A HUGE Success, great turnout and ... one last request - click right here to support
the Chesapeake Bay bill

What a combo for our Second Annual Green Drinks for the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis ... fabulous weather, beautiful site, and great cause. It was an overwhelming success! Thanks to all involved - we are "claiming" at least 262 of you -- that's our best count.

We have one last request. If you haven't already, take but a moment to send off your support for our Chesapeake Bay.

Click, put in your zip code, your information, and a letter appears to your senator/congressperson. Yes, you can even customize it if you'd like. We thank you.

We were hoping to have all the counts in from the 17 Green Drinks groups from around the watershed to see if we topped the Green Drinks attendance record of 1800 ...  soon!

Most importantly, we'll also keep you informed on the results of our call to action through Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Now, time for our thanks ...

severn innWe send a big thank you to our host, The Severn Inn, for use of their two dining rooms and the upper deck. Chef Philip's spread of yummy organic appetizers was incredible and very generous. Read about the Severn Inn's sustainable practices.

In addition to the organic wines offered by the Severn Inn's attentive bartenders, our friends at Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company prepared a special martini for our event with their new River's Edge blend. The "On the Edge Martini" was super!

Throughout the evening volunteers from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation educated our crowd about the Chesapeake Clean Water and Ecosystem Restoration Act of 2009. They were very visible in the bright blue Vote for Clean Water scarves and t-shirts. CBF Maryland Executive Director Kim Koble spoke for a few minutes about the Act and led our toast to the Chesapeake Bay.

Lucky Green Drinkers won an assortment of great door prizes including a brunch for two from the Severn Inn, a generous assortment of golf accessories from  Bonterra Wines (Organically farmed for flavor!), books on organic gardening, and a Conant Custom Brass Rain Gauge from Weems & Plath. Stellar Presentations donated two organic gardening books too.

Thank you to Chris Moyer from the National  Restaurant Association's Greener Restaurants initiative for joining us and showing off his newly launched program on his iPad... and for providing us with the white reusable bags. Read more about Greener Restaurants.

You might have seen photographer Michael Finn taking shots of our event. We'll have his photos online soon. Thanks, Michael!

So now the party's over but our job is just beginning.Take just a few minutes now, while you are thinking about it, and contact your senators and congressional representatives and tell them you want them to vote for clean water... that you want them to vote in favor of the Chesapeake Clean Water and Ecosystem Restoration Act of 2009.

If you attended our event you were given a small card (thanks to Clean Currents) with the link to send in your email about the legislation, or just click here.

Read our BLOG to learn more, get involved, and join the conversation!

Use the handy forwarding link at the bottom of this email to send this message to your friends and colleagues so they'll know about this call for action. We've got a powerful network in Green Drinks. Let's use it and join together in support of our National Treasure.

What is Green Drinks?

green drinks annapolis
Green Drinks is a monthly (more or less) get-together that gives the environmentally minded a chance to get to know one another in a fun, informal way facilitating connections and working together for a common cause: The Health of the Chesapeake Bay. We are apart of an amazing international group, greendrinks.org, with over 600 like us all around the world.  Of course, we think our Annapolis crew is the best!  Try visiting other groups while you're on the road.  And, it's truly not about the drinks ... those who don't drink alcoholic beverages are welcome too!
