Hello Green Drinkers
and welcome to all newcomers ...

green drinks annapolis
Thank you to

for its hospitality on Jan. 12

It simply took us a long time to recover from our outstanding January gathering! But our delay in emailing you works out because there are lots of exciting things going on. Make sure you take a moment to speed read down our entire "page." You'll be glad you did!

The 100+ crowd was in a great mood -- happy to be in the cozy, hip atmosphere of Level and the tasty appetizers and cocktails were outstanding, as was the organic wine by Bonterra. What a great way to start the new decade!

We were very happy that the City of Annapolis chose to present Level with a Certificate of Sustainability during our event. We tasted Level's special Herradura Organic Cucumber Margarita, their Housemade "Outlaw" All Natural Tonic with Finlandia Vodka & Hendrick's Gin, and Wines by Bonterra --  organically produced in Mendocino County. And bartenders/owners John Miller and John Hogan created three special cocktails just for us: Herradura Cucumber Margarita, House Made Tonic & Gin or organic Vodka, and Wild for Wheatgrass with organic Brazilian rum (They made the wheatgrass into a foam!). All the cocktails were like nothing else we've ever tasted. John and John truly are artists behind the bar.
Chef Freddie prepared a fabulous Bison
Satay with local meat and Over Roasted Head-On Shrimp from a local seafood farm.

Level arranged for an incredibly generous raffle. Five of our Green Drinkers won the following: a wheeled duffel bag valued at $125 and a jacket valued at $65 thanks to Herradura; two bottles of wine courtesy of Bonterra; and, thanks to author Paul Abercrombie, one Green Drinker won a signed copy of Organic, Shaken, and Stirred.

See our website for details about Level's eco-friendly practices. It's quite impressive!

We "unveiled" our new announcements corkboard so we hope that in the future, if you have news to share you'll bring some information to post on the board.
NEW!

We have some great events coming up THIS WEEK! Please read below about:
  • the launch of our brand-new Green Drinks Extra
events with a talk by Fight for the Bay author Dr. Howard Ernst about the environmental movement in our area
  • Green Caffeine returns tomorrow
  • A very important and informative event, the 16th Annual Environmental Summit
We hope to see you at all three.

And, because February is turning out to be such a busy month, we will probably NOT have a Green Drinks event, but we're making plans for a super Green Drinks in March and of course, Green Drinks for the Bay during Earth Day week in April.

Green Drinks Extra

Fight for the Bay by Dr. Howard Ernst
Annapolis Maritime Museum Seminar
Followed by a Green Drinks Extra reception (cash bar)

Thursday, January 28

7 - 8:30 p.m., McNasby Oyster Company Building
AMM Campus, 723 Second Street, Annapolis

Dr. Ernst, who currently serves as an associate professor of political science at the US Naval Academy and as a Senior Scholar at University of Virginia's Center for Politics, will discuss his latest book, Fight for the Bay: Why a Dark Green Environmental Awakening is Needed to Save the Chesapeake Bay. Ernst is best known for his work in the area of environmental politics and is considered a leading authority on the Chesapeake Bay restoration program. His new book pulls no punches. Fight for the Bay describes the Chesapeake as "functionally dead," an ecological zombie that has succumbed to a "light-green" environmental movement that too often adopted a philosophy of compromise over confrontation.

green drinks annapolis
Green Drinks is a monthly (more or less) get-together tha
t gives the environmentally minded a chance to get to know one another in a fun, informal way facilitating connections and working together for a common cause: The Health of the Chesapeake Bay. We are apart of an amazing international group ... www.greendrinks.org with over 600 like us all around the world.  Of course, we think our Annapolis crew is the best!  Try visiting other groups while you're on the road.  And, it's truly not about the drinks ... those who don't drink alcoholic beverages are welcome too!
