Scopes of Work that Work By Charles C. Shinn, Jr., PhD
I am a strong believer that all builders should establish a detailed Scope of Work document for every agreement drafted with their trade contractors. Without a viable, clear scope of work, you never know what you can expect. Some trades may have a high standard for project completion, others may not. Some may be used to doing it the way most builders do it but that may not be how you like it or it might not even be what you are expecting. The only way to get what you want is to clearly explain it at the front end through a clear scope of work document that is attached to the trade contractor agreement. Magnolia Homes New Site Launch Case Study

Magnolia Homes had a web site (www.yourmagnoliahome.com) but it did not reflect the beauty of their homes or their communities. Karen and Reggie Garner, owners of the Memphis builder also wanted the site to distinguish between their luxury custom homes and their homes for first-time buyers and move-up buyers. (The luxury homes, called the Karen Gardner collection, priced in the mid $400's and up while their newest homes are the Magnolia Signature Collection) The challenge was how to present homes priced from the mid $200's to more than $650,000. Showing off the photography was also a challenge giving users the full experience and beauty of Magnolia's new Homes.
