About H1N1
As of the print date of this newsletter, the 2009 H1N1 flu situation is as follows:
- Visits to the doctor for flu like illness nationally, increased slightly after 8 consecutive weeks of decline.
- Influenza hospitalization rates have decreased across all age groups, but remain higher than expected. Though declining, hospitalization rates continue to be the highest in children 0-4 years old.
- Four states have reported widespread activity: Maine, Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia, a decline of 3 states from the previous week.
