The Lighthouse Attic
The Lighthouse Attic is beginning our 17th year of operation. To date we have made donations to ML and other community organizations in excess of $435,000.00. We have 55 volunteers who keep the store running six days a week. The average age of our volunteers is 80! We are in need of younger volunteers, both men and women. Student volunteers are also welcome! We have a variety of needs, manning the check out counter, stocking shelves, sorting donations and pulling old stock of shelves. Hours can be as varied as you like. If you have time and would be able to help you can get more information by contacting our volunteer coordinator, Carol Nolte at 429-0095 or Karen Reinhardt at 428-2503.

Taste of Ministry/ Teaching
ML offers a program called Taste of Ministry/Taste of Teaching for Juniors and Seniors interested in the pastoral or teaching ministry. Students will be matched with a local pastor or Lutheran elementary school teacher to spend a day learning what it's like to be on the other side of the desk. If you are an ML Junior or Senior who is considering the public ministry and would like to participate in the program, please contact Mr. Herbst as soon as possible.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS~
You are needed at ML to help serve on an important one-year task force. ML is going through a major self-study process to remain a nationally accredited institution. Your committment will be to help go through this self-study and to help in improve the overall educational ministry of our high school. Our goal is to have our accreditation self-study finished in one year. The more volunteers the better! If you would like to learn more about this great opportunity to strengthen our high school, contact our Principal, Matt Herbst -mherbst@michiganlutheran.org
An initial accreditation meeting is being scheduled for October 29 at 6:30 pm in the MPR here at ML. |

THE LORD WANTS US TO PRAY~
A new request of all of the supporters of ML! Please consider printing out our October prayer calendar and posting it somewhere so that you can lift up an aspect of our ministry in prayer to our gracious Lord. We are thankful to think that many are praying on behalf of ML on a daily basis.

TEST GEAR
ACT Prep, online ACT, WorkKeys, and Michigan Merit Exam preparation course is a part of the freshman technology curriculum at MLHS. The course is called TestGEAR. Because ML pays an annual fee, ALL students are eligible for a Test GEAR account. The course is comprehensive and can take up to 60 hours to complete. It is interactive and personalizes itself to your specific needs as you use it. You can also visit www.act.org for released exams, sample essays, and sample questions. Students can log on at school or at home. It's not too early to begin preparation for the MME. This test gear generates an ACT score that will be used for college admissions. Talk to Mr. Lillo or Mr. Kruck to get information about how to sign on to your account.

When you visit the school, please push the intercom button at the far right of the doorway. Someone will greet you and "buzz" you into the building. When you enter, please report to the school office. Thank you for your understanding as we work to keep our Titans safe.
