| Our work on the Westside | |
There is a lot of good work happening on the Westside, thanks to United Way and its partners.
On June 5 and June 21, United Way staff and volunteers joined the staff at the Sheila Jennings/Westside Rec center to drop off donations for summer camp, read to and play ball with the kids, and see first hand how United Way supported programs and partners are working to make a difference in these kids' lives by keeping them out of gangs and helping them to graduate high school.
Some of our partners in these mentoring programs are the YMCA, the Chattanooga Housing Authority, and the Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Dept.
Watch this video from the Westside with Alison Lebovitz and Solomon McGee, the Westside Mentoring program director, and sign up to mentor a child today!

| Give to the Fan Fund | |
Help Your Neighbors Stay Cool This Summer!
Summer heat can be extremely dangerous for the elderly and people without air conditioning. Help us provide fans to low income families and seniors by making a $15 donation to the 2012 Fan Fund. Your investment will help a local neighbor beat the heat. Watch the PSA here...
What is the Fan Fund?
The Fan Fund is an annual program to provide box fans to local residents who qualify for the program through United Way's 2-1-1:
- United Way's 2-1-1 call center qualifies recipients for the fans
- The Chattanooga Times Free Press collects donations online
- Ace Hardware provides the fans at a low cost
- EPB and Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union employees deliver the fans
If you know someone who may need a fan or utility assistance, have them call 2-1-1 as soon as possible.
Thank you to our partners: EPB, Chattanooga Times Free Press, ACE Hardware, Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, Classic Rock KZ106, 107.9 Big FM, WGOW News Radio 1150 AM and Talk Radio 102.3 FM
SOME OF OUR RESULTS THROUGH UNITED WAY'S 2-1-1
- Helped more than 30,000 people with requests for basic needs assistance, such as food and utilities
- In conjunction with the Volunteer Center, helped mobilize more than 1,500 volunteers to help with disaster relief efforts in 2011 and 2011.
