New Campaign Update

78% Now Raised

With our new campaign report, we've jumped to the 78% mark toward our goal of $11.9 million. We are so grateful for your hard work, which has taken us this far. If your campaign is over, then a sincere thank you and a request that you continue to share information about our work with your employees.

If your campaign is still on-going or you're about to begin, then please keep trying - it's not too late to extend or kick-start your campaign. E-mail or call Wendy Bennett at 423-752-0370 for ideas and assistance.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee
In addition to running a stellar campaign, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee wanted to give in other ways too. So their Federal Programs Division created BCBS's own Week of Caring from October 13 to 16. BCBS had 109 employees volunteer for approximately 282 hours at 14 nonprofits across town, performing duties as varied as reading to children to building houses. Their total labor donation is valued at more than $5,500.

If you would like to set up a volunteer program at your place of work, please call Windy Brooks at 423-752-0316. For special campaign ideas, call Wendy Bennett at 423-752-0370.

Meet Marcia
Marcia Martin, LEMarcia Martin joined United Way in mid-September, a few weeks after the campaign began. She assisted our staff with campaigns in the Retail, Real Estate and Construction industries. With 25 years experience as a marketing manager in the shopping center industry, as well as a Real Estate license and a business degree, Marcia was a perfect find.

When asked about her work as a loaned executive, Marcia explained why she enjoys it so much, "Working with the United Way gives me the opportunity to meet other professionals. It is a pleasure to explain to them how the United Way of Greater Chattanooga works and how their donations will benefit all of us, regardless of our culture, socioeconomic status or abilities."

If you need help with your campaign, e-mail Marcia or call her at 423-752-0372.

How Nathan & Nathaniel Live United

Last year as the boys were paddling the Nantahala, they jumped into the water to save a blue-faced boy. They finally got him breathing again as they pulled him to shore. Nathaniel and Nathan learned how to rescue him through their participation in a United Way-funded youth development program that teaches life-saving skills, strong values, and community service. Now Nathaniel and Nathan are prepared for success in life, no matter what happens. When we reach a hand out to one, we influence the condition of all. That's how you Live United. Read the rest of their story here...
