Community Campaign Update
We've raised $5.7 million so far in our annual campaign, but we need your help to achieve our goal. With several local plant closings in North Georgia and giving in some Tennessee companies lower due to layoffs, donations may not reach the same level as last year.

Particularly this year, the need for basic services has increased at an alarming rate. Our 211 call center has made 46% more referrals during the first 9 months of 2008 than in the same period in 2007.

Please help. If you can give, donate online now or call Linda McReynolds at 423-752-0304 to find out how you can help us raise $11.9 million. Give Now...

United Way's 2-1-1 /Building Stable Lives
In addition to making 46% more referrals, we're also in the midst of kicking off our Christmas Clearance program to help area nonprofits that provide holiday gift assistance for children and families. If you know someone in need, if there is a need in your family, or if you would like to make an in-kind donation to the program, e-mail John Hayes or call 2-1-1 (on cells call 432-265-8000; in some parts of Georgia call 1-866-921-3035).

Project Ready for School
Project Ready for School has more than 16,000 children receiving free books at home from Imagination Library. If you know a child between birth and 5 years old who loves to have someone read to them, enroll them now or call 423-752-0300 to begin the enrollment process.

United Way's Day of Caring
This year's Day of Caring, was a great success. Sponsored by ACE Hardware, it saw 298 volunteers work a total of 1,706 hours in one day with a financial impact of $33,284 for a total of 23 nonprofit organizations accross our region, including locations in North Georgia. ACE donated almost $5,800 from their Labor Day sale to help purchase supplies for all these projects. We still have daily volunteer needs to fill - register to volunteer now or call Windy Brooks at 423-752-0316.
