CAMPAIGN
UPDATE!

We've raised almost $4 million so far in our annual campaign, but we need your help to reach our goal. With several local plant closings, giving may be lower this year.

Local need is also increasing at a rapid rate. 211 has received 46% more calls during the first 9 months of 2008 than in the same period in 2007.

Please help. If you can give, donate online now or call Linda McReynolds at 423-752-0304 to find out how you can help us raise $11.9 million.

Diamond Donor - 25 Years of Giving or More

Diamond Donor David Unruh

How David Lives United
David has been a generous supporter of United Way for more than 25 years.
David started giving to United Way early in his professional career, because he was raised in a family that valued charity and stewardship. He believed it was just, "the right thing to do." However, little did he know that one day he would need the services of a United Way supported program. We all benefit when we give to advance the common good - sometimes in unexpected ways.

New Law Extends Your Opportunities

Congress takes important step to encourage gifts

 IRS graphic
Congress has taken steps to protect America's financial system while also encouraging additional charitable giving. The Emergency Economic Stabalization Act of 2008 may offer new opportunities for tax-free charitable giving this year and next. This law includes incentives for anyone 70 1/2 years of age and older who would like to make charitable gifts from potentially taxable IRA funds.
