Dear youth and parents,
I had a great time this past weekend with 45 youth and adult sponsors on our Back-to-School Retreat, and the weekend together at Briarwood Retreat Center provided a great "jump start" on this new year together for all who were able to attend. Thanks to all the adults who helped prepare for the retreat and accompanied our young people over the weekend.
This Sunday is a big one, with Promotion Sunday in the morning and our Youth Family Roundup on Sunday evening. Read on for more info on both of those events, and I'll look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Promotion Sunday is here - New Sunday school classes begin
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  This Sunday, August 21 is UCC's annual Promotion Sunday, and all youth and children will move into their new classes for this school year. Youth begin gathering in Room 303 at 9:45 for snacks and fellowship, then split into age-based classes after announcements at 10:00. Classes, rooms, and teachers for this year are:
6th/7th Grade Boys, 308 - Steve Midgley 6th/7th Grade Girls, 304 - Leigh Scanlon & Anne-Lise Woods 8th Grade, 307 - Frank Perry & Valerie Valentine-Heath 9th-10th Grade, 312 - Drew Ruiz & Stacy McCoy 11th-12th Grade, 315 - Susan Hill, Sean Wetsel & Jennie Huang

Youth Family Roundup for all youth & parents - Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~ We're beginning an exciting new year in UCC's youth ministry, and there's so much to share about what's coming up and how to get involved! To help get everyone oriented and excited we're hosting a Youth Family Roundup this Sunday evening, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 207! All 6th-12th grade youth and parents are invited to join us for a fun and informative night where you can:
- Meet our staff, teachers, and youth group sponsors
- Get your copy of the fancy new Youth Directory
- Pick up a major events calendar to plan ahead through 2012
- Hear about this year's camps, retreats, and mission trips
- Pre-register for the CYF Ski Retreat to Monarch Mountain, CO
- Sign up for volunteer opportunities big and small
- Preview our weekly youth programming
- Buy snack supper punch cards for Sunday night meals
- Hear about (and sign up for) our youth handbell choirs
- Pre-register for Disciples Class, our baptism prep course
- Take what you're learning and use it to win fun prizes throughout the night
Youth and parents will all meet together from 6:30-7:00, then youth will head upstairs for their first Chi Rho and CYF youth group meetings of the year while parents continue in 207. Round up your classmates and other parents and we'll see you there, pardner! |

 We're excited to offer season parking for TCU football games at UCC this year, and we need your help to spread the word! All the information you need is available online at www.uccfootballparking.org, including pricing, rules, lot location, and required forms. A majority of the proceeds this year benefit UCC's youth ministry, providing scholarships for camps and mission trips. Tell your Frog fanatic friends and support our ministry to youth! |

 Our youth ministry is excited to offer text alerts as a way to stay connected! Typical text alerts will include reminders for meetings and events, as well as time-sensitive announcements if an event is moved or canceled due to weather. After you sign up for alerts, you will automatically be added to the appropriate group (Chi Rho or CYF) as well as any events for which you register (camps, mission trips, retreats). That way you only receive texts that are relevant to YOU! Messages will go to parents AND youth to ensure everyone is on the same page, and we're committed to sending no more than two alerts per week to avoid straining your service plan.
