Dear youth and parents,
I'm about to head to the Phoenix airport after four days in Scottsdale, AZ at Chaplaincy Annual Sustainment Training (CAST), an annual conference that all Army chaplains and chaplain assistants are required to attend. In my absence Herb and Jessica have been handling all of the coordination and preparation for Youth Sunday, a daunting task when you consider how many pieces have to be worked out in the week before the service. Be sure to say a word of thanks on Sunday for the time and effort they've put in (during exams, no less).
Read on for more info on where and when all youth should be present for Youth Sunday, along with info on next week's Senior Banquet.

Youth Sunday is here! All youth on deck this weekend!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Youth in grades 6-12 will be leading the 8:45 and 11 a.m. worship services as part of UCC's annual Youth Sunday this weekend. Speaking parts have been assigned, but we need many more youth to come for rehearsal and the services to serve as greeters, ushers, baptism helpers, sanctuary decorators, and more. Here's the schedule for the weekend:
Saturday: Rehearsal in the Sanctuary from 2-4 p.m.
Sunday: - Walk-through and final assignments in the Sanctuary - 8:00-8:40 a.m.
- Services at 8:45 and 11 a.m. - Sunday school from 10 - 10:45 a.m. - Final snack supper and youth groups for this year - 6:00-7:45 p.m.
PARENTS: Your assistance in making sure your youth is present for rehearsal, walk-through, and/or services is appreciated! |

Honor our graduates at the Senior Banquet this Wednesday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UCC's youth ministry invites you to come honor our 2011 high school graduates at the Senior Banquet this Wednesday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. During the evening we'll share a dinner catered by Los Vaqueros, take time to meet each of the graduates, see photos and memorabilia from their journeys, and send them off with the blessing of their church family. RSVP's are needed today, so be sure to contact Sharyn at sharyn@uccftw.com to let her know the number in your party. The cost is $10 per person.

Summer camp registration continues - sign up today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Youth and children from Pre-K through 12th grade have the opportunity to grow closer to God and one another this summer at Disciples Crossing, our church camp in Athens. There are nine different camps spread across the summer, each with a different focus. To see a full list of camp descriptions, dates, and prices, click here. UCC is covering $100 of the registration cost for those who register by May 15, and additional scholarships are available up to the full early-bird price if needed. |

Serve others on the Chi Rho or CYF Mission Trip this summer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UCC's middle and high school youth will be hitting the road to learn and serve on two mission trips this summer:
The Chi Rho Mission Trip will take our youth in grades 6-8 to Austin from June 12-15. While there, they'll be serving others at several different agencies, including the Salvation Army, Elderhaven Adult Day Care, and Manos de Cristo before spending a day cooling off at Schlitterbahn Water Park in New Braunfels. Our 9th-12th grade youth will travel to Los Fresnos, Texas for the CYF Mission Trip, scheduled for June 25 - July 2. They will spend the week working at Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, a Disciple mission agency committed to serving the "least of these" in the Rio Grande Valley.
