Dear youth and parents,
I had a great time last Saturday spending a day retreat with participants in our inaugural Disciples Class. The 25 youth who participated in the class spent twelve sessions learning about what it means to confess your faith, be baptized, and become a member of UCC. The day retreat gave us a great opportunity to help the youth synthesize everything they had learned into membership covenants that they developed, and we also took time to train them as ushers, practice baptisms, and take care of other practical matters as we prepare for baptisms on Easter Sunday. I hope to see you this week at one of UCC's many worship options, and I'm looking forward to many of our youth joining me in the baptistry on Sunday morning!

Lenten Prayer Vigil continues today - youth pray at 5:30 p.m.

The Lenten Prayer Vigil continues in the chapel and library until 7:30 p.m. We encourage you and your family to take time and "be still" with God. Youth are signed-up to be in prayer from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., but if that time doesn't work we hope you can find 10 or 20 minutes today to stop by and spend a few moments in prayer. Resources and prayer stations are provided to help facilitate your prayer time!

Girls Night Out to view the Royal Wedding - Friday, April 29

 Ladies in grades 6-12 are invited to a Royal Wedding viewing party on Friday, April 29 from 6:30 - 10:30 p.m. at the home of the Lanter family, 2624 Boyd Ave. Make sure to wear your best British or princess attire as we watch the wedding and toast the happy couple with sparkling cider. We will also be enjoying famous English treats as we sip the finest tea. Please RSVP to jessica@uccftw.com by Wednesday, April 27 so that we can plan accordingly. Guys Night Out to NOT view the Royal Wedding - Friday, April 29

 Guys in grades 6-12 are invited to a gathering where the Royal Wedding will not be viewed on April 29 from 6:30 - 10 p.m. at the home of the Boyd family, 6028 Welch Ave. Make sure to wear comfortable attire as we grill out, play lawn and video games, and watch the Rangers. Bring a side, appetizer, or dessert to share, everything else will be provided. Please RSVP to russ@uccftw.com by Wednesday, April 27 so that we can plan to have enough burgers and dogs for everyone. Summer camp registration continues - sign up today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Youth and children from Pre-K through 12th grade have the opportunity to grow closer to God and one another this summer at Disciples Crossing, our church camp in Athens. There are nine different camps spread across the summer, each with a different focus. To see a full list of camp descriptions, dates, and prices, click here. UCC is covering $100 of the registration cost for those who register by May 15, and additional scholarships are available up to the full early-bird price if needed. |

Serve others on the Chi Rho or CYF Mission Trip this summer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UCC's middle and high school youth will be hitting the road to learn and serve on two mission trips this summer:
The Chi Rho Mission Trip will take our youth in grades 6-8 to Austin from June 12-15. While there, they'll be serving others at several different agencies, including the Salvation Army, Elderhaven Adult Day Care, and Manos de Cristo before spending a day cooling off at Schlitterbahn Water Park in New Braunfels. Our 9th-12th grade youth will travel to Los Fresnos, Texas for the CYF Mission Trip, scheduled for June 25 - July 2. They will spend the week working at Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, a Disciple mission agency committed to serving the "least of these" in the Rio Grande Valley. Prayer shawl ministry returns to 4 p.m. Sundays afternoons

 After a move to 6:30 p.m. for the season of Lent, UCC's Prayer Shawl Ministry will return to its regular time slot of 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoons starting on May 1. This ministry welcomes all who wish to participate and experienced knitters are happy to help anyone learn.
