Dear youth and parents,
It's been a busy week after returning Monday night from support the 5-day Army Reserve event in Orlando and then joining UCC's ministers for our annual clergy retreat on Wednesday and Thursday. While it's created a bit of a backlog in the office, both were exceptional events that have helped me gain experience and clarity that inform my leadership of UCC's youth ministry. I'm energized and ready for a great semester, and I hope that energy is contagious as great opportunities for youth and adults to grow and serve unfold over the next few months.
Reminder that tonight is UCC's all-church Family Fiesta, and this Sunday is the deadline to sign up for the intergenerational Mission Pilgrimage to New Orleans that will take place over Spring Break. Read on for info on those two opportunities, as well as the start of registration for the CYF Midwinter Retreat for our high schoolers.

Dinner and a show at the all-church Family Fiesta tonight! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Looking for a fun (and cheap!) family activity tonight? Come to UCC's Family Fiesta, where we'll share a pot luck dinner, sample salsas in a salsa competition, and enjoy entertainment from Grupo Pakal. Their spectacular performance tells the fascinating story of the Mayan Empire, conveying their history and culture through festive dance ceremonies and native music that feature elaborate costumes. You'll also have the rare opportunity to experience the ancient Mayan ballgame, which dates to 3,000 BC and is considered history's first team sport. It's an especially unique treat because Grupo Pakal is one of only a handful of companies in the world that are actively trained in the sport. Bring a Mexican dish to share and come enjoy good food and fun with your church family tonight!

Deadline Sunday for Spring Break Mission Trip to New Orleans

 No plans for Spring Break? Why not spend it serving others as a family? For the third year in a row UCC will be making an intergenerational mission pilgrimage to the New Orleans area to help with continued hurricane recovery efforts. This year's trip will take place March 13-19 and the cost is $175 per person (scholarships for youth are available upon request). Register by contacting Lynn Cross, UCC's Mission and Outreach Coordinator, at 817.926.6631 ext. 139 or lynn@uccftw.com. A $50 deposit is due by this Sunday, January 23 to secure a spot on the trip and there will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting on Sunday, January 30 at 12:15 p.m.

Register now for CYF Midwinter Retreat at Disciples Crossing

Our youth will meet at UCC at 5:30 p.m. that Friday to share a charter bus to camp, and will return around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The cost for the retreat is $80 and full or half scholarships are available upon request. Registration forms are due to the Youth Office by Sunday, February 6, and you can download one by clicking here. Parents: We will need adult chaperones to attend the retreat as well.
