Dear youth and parents,
We experienced another wonderful Hanging of the Greens service this past Sunday night, and I am always impressed that our youth are willing to give up most of their Sunday to rehearse and lead our congregation in worship. I appreciate all of the youth who participated, the choirs and individuals who shared their musical gifts, the adults who helped the youth ministry staff prepare, and everyone who came to experience the service. It has definitely become a part of my annual preparation for Christmas!

Wondering about baptism? Disciples Class registration is closing!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Any youth in grades 6-12 interested in learning more about baptism and church membership is welcome to be part of our first ever Disciples Class! The 12-week class will meet on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. starting on January 9 and conclude with a day retreat on April 16. Each participant will be part of an age-based small group led by an adult mentor, and youth who have already been baptized or previously participated in the Faith Development Class are welcome to attend as a "refresher course." The class will be offered every year, alternating between Sunday mornings (in odd years) and evenings (in even years).

First Sunday Lunch for youth and parents at Pappas Burger

 All youth and parents are invited to our monthly First Sunday Lunch this Sunday. Come to Pappas Burger (2700 West Freeway) following the 11 a.m. worship service where we'll have a dining room reserved for good food and informal conversation. Sign up for Soul Brothers, an intergenerational retreat for guys

The 2011 retreat will again take place January 14-16 at Riverbend Retreat Center in Glen Rose, and the cost is $100 for adults and $75 for youth. The group will depart UCC at 5:30 p.m. on Friday (with a stop for dinner at Babe's Chicken Dinner House) and return around noon on Sunday. Youth Christmas parties and CYF lock-in - December 19

 Our annual Chi Rho and CYF Christmas parties are coming up on December 19 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Additionally, CYF (grades 9-12) will be having a lock-in at the church following their party. Mark your calendar and watch for details on locations, gifts, and attire for these fun and festive events!
