Dear youth and parents, I appreciate all the hard work and faithful leadership our youth put into Youth Sunday at The Search last Sunday night. The prayers, sermons, prayer stations, decorations, and hospitality were all so thoughtful and heartfelt, and everything worked together to create a thought-provoking worship experience. Thanks to the youth, adult sponsors, and Jessica and Herb for all their hard work to bring it into being!
We also had a BLAST playing quidditch in Fellowship Hall last Saturday night, and due to the overwhelming response we are likely to play on a regular basis. Herb and Jessica put a lot of work into making the event happen, Dan Cooper helped produce some incredible metal goals, and lots of parents and other adults made Harry Potter themed snacks that we enjoyed. I hope to see you on the quidditch pitch the next time we play!
Grace and Peace, Russ

Youth Thanksgiving feast this Sunday night at youth groups
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  This Sunday evening, November 21 all youth in grades 6-12 are invited to a special Thanksgiving feast during our weekly snack supper/youth group time (6 - 7:30 p.m.) Turkey, ham, and mashed potatoes will be provided, and we'll let you take care of additional sides and desserts. To make sure we don't have too much of the same, contact Jessica at jessica@uccftw.com OR write your side or dessert on the sheet in the Gathering Room (303) this Sunday morning.
We also need a few adult or youth volunteers to help with setup and decorating. Again, e-mail Jessica to let her know if you can come a little early to help.
All youth on deck! Hanging of the Greens is November 28
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UCC's youth will again be dressing our sanctuary for the seasons of Advent and Christmas in a special Hanging of the Greens service on Sunday, November 29 at 6:45 p.m. It takes MANY youth to make this service happen, so we encourage all available 6th-12th graders to participate in this fun, festive event. Youth who sign up for speaking parts at Sunday school or youth groups will gather in the sanctuary at 3 p.m. before the service, and all youth will meet at 4 p.m. to walk through the service with the greenery. Rehearsals will conclude at 5 p.m. so that participants can worship at The Search and eat dinner before the service.
NOTE: A monacle (as pictured above) is optional. |
Wondering about baptism? Register for the Disciples Class!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any youth in grades 6-12 interested in learning more about baptism and church membership is welcome to be part of our first ever Disciples Class! The 12-week class will meet on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. starting on January 9 and conclude with a day retreat on April 16. Each participant will be part of an age-based small group led by an adult mentor, and youth who have already been baptized or previously participated in the Faith Development Class are welcome to attend as a "refresher course." The class will be offered every year, alternating between Sunday mornings (in odd years) and evenings (in even years).
Click here for a detailed FAQ sheet about the Disciples Class, and e-mail Sharyn Peterson at sharyn@uccftw.com to register. The registration cutoff for this year's class will be December 5.
