Dear youth and parents,
This Saturday our church will welcome hundreds of Disciple youth from across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas as we host CYF Day, an annual event sponsored by the TCU Office of Admissions. Not only is this event a great way to connect Disciple youth to TCU...I've also found that when many of those same youth become TCU students they have no trouble finding their way to UCC thanks to their participation in CYF Day. If you're headed to the football game this Saturday, take a moment to stop by Fellowship Hall and say a word of welcome to some future Frogs (and future participants in in our ministries at UCC).

Worship, football, and fun at TCU's CYF Day this Saturday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~ CYF Day, an annual youth event sponsored by the TCU Office of Admissions, is coming to UCC this Saturday, October 9. Hundreds of Disciple youth from across the region will descend on our church for complimentary food, campus tours, inspiring worship, the TCU vs. Wyoming football game, and an "after party" in Fellowship Hall. Check out the schedule for the day and come for any or all of the event:
Noon - Complimentary food from TCU catering available in Fellowship Hall
Noon and 12:15 - Campus tours leave from Fellowship Hall
1:00 - Welcome and door prizes from TCU Admissions in Fellowship Hall
1:15 - Worship featuring The Search band in Fellowship Hall
2:30 - TCU vs. Wyoming at Amon G. Carter Stadium
5:30ish - "5th Quarter" After Party with games and food in Fellowship Hall - $5
7:00 - Event concludes

Register now for the Chi Rho Fall Retreat at Disciples Crossing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Our youth in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to join middle schoolers from Disciple churches around the area for the Chi Rho Fall Retreat coming up November 5-7 at Disciples Crossing, our church camp in Athens. This annual retreat offers the opportunity to grow closer
to God and one another through worship, recreation, prayer, small groups, and
interest groups that include options like sports, dance, art, service,
photography, and more.
Our youth will meet at UCC at 5:30 p.m. that Friday to share a charter bus to camp, and will return around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The cost for the retreat is $80 and full or half scholarships are available upon request. Registration forms are due to the Youth Office by Sunday, October 17, and you can download one by clicking here. Parents: We will need adult chaperones to attend the retreat as well. Save the date for a rock climbing adventure on October 30

Want to spend a day enjoying God's beautiful creation while the Fall weather is still nice? Come to Lake Mineral Wells State Park for a youth rock climbing adventure on Saturday, October 30! All youth in grades 6-12 are invited, and veteran rock climbers Pam and Keith Miller will serve as our guides for a safe, fun day. All you have to do is show up ready to learn! (Not interested in climbing? There are plenty of great hiking trails to explore around the lake.)
We'll be meeting at UCC at 8 a.m. to carpool to Mineral Wells, and should return around 2 p.m. Wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes, and bring at least $12 to cover the climbing fee ($3) and lunch in Weatherford on the way home. RSVP's are required to ensure that we have enough drivers. Just e-mail Sharyn at sharyn@uccftw.com to reserve your spot, or to volunteer as a driver/adult chaperone for the day.
