Dear youth and parents, After a slow down over Labor Day weekend we're back to our normal schedule this weekend with Sunday school classes in the morning and youth groups on Sunday evening. I will be with my Army Reserve unit this Sunday for our "family day" to promote marriage enrichment retreats for soldiers and their spouses and relationship skill-building retreats for our single soldiers. This is part of a huge Army initiative called Strong Bonds, a program that's administered by chaplains that's designed to help all soldiers and their families develop skills for healthier relationships. I will be back for our Sunday evening programming, and Jessica and Herb will be here if you're looking for a youth minister on Sunday morning. Read on for information on a new class for adults on Sunday nights and some exciting opportunities for youth that are coming up in the next few weeks!
Grace and Peace, Russ

God's Economy adult Sunday night study starts this week
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey parents: Are you interested in a study for adults during our Sunday night youth groups? Prom Dreams - CYF Sunday school elective starts Sep. 19
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Starting
on Sunday, September 19 there will be a four-week service
opportunity during the Sunday school hour for youth in grades 9-12. UCC is starting a new "Prom Dreams" ministry under the
leadership of Gerry Houk that will use space above the Children's Closet to provide gently-used prom dresses to girls who need them. Youth will help during Sunday school by working on an
interior design plan, marketing ideas, and a dress donation drive. Participants will meet with all other youth for refreshments and announcements each Sunday morning before walking to the Children's Closet at 10 a.m.
There are 12 slots available for participants, and youth can sign up at Sunday school or Sunday evening youth group. The class needs an additional adult shepherd to assist. If you are interested or have
questions, please e-mail Jessica Vacketta at jessica@uccftw.com.

Save the Date: Chi Rho and CYF broomball in Dallas - Sep. 25
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jessica and Herb are hammering out the details for a youth outing to Dallas to play broomball, the hockey-esque game played in normal shoes at an ice rink. Tentatively it looks like our middle and high schoolers will meet at the train station downtown to take the TRE to Dallas, play broomball from 12-1, have lunch together, and take the train back to Fort Worth. Mark your calendar, and stay tuned for more details!
