 Weekly E-news
August 28, 2010

Dear youth and parents, Last weekend was an amazing time for UCC and our youth ministry! Over 100 were present for promotion Sunday in the morning, and we had a full house at our orientation for youth and parents on Sunday evening. It was especiallyy great to see lots of new faces and many faces we haven't seen in a while, and I hope that trend continues as Sunday school and Sunday night youth groups continue this week.
I just returned late Thursday night from a four-day conference for Army chaplains and chaplain assistants that took place in Boston. I'm playing catch up from everything I missed this past week (hence the later e-news) and I encourage you to read on for exciting staff news and some great opportunities coming up this Sunday!
Grace and Peace, Russ

Herbert Murray called as new Assistant Minister for Chi Rho
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~ We're pleased to share that Herbert Murray has accepted a call
to serve as Assistant Minister for Chi Rho (grades 6-8).
A native of Houston, Herb has returned to Fort Worth to complete his
undergraduate degree at TCU. He had
completed the hours for an Art History degree before leaving TCU due to a
family illness, and will be adding a Psychology major
as he completes his degree. During his
time off from school, Herb served as Youth Minister at First Christian Church
of Katy, Texasfor almost 3 years and
became a licensed minister in that position through the Coastal Plains Area of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).Herb brings with him years of experience counseling camps, serving as an adult on youth councils at the Area and Regional levels, planning and leading worship at youth events, and the wide range of experiences that come from the times he functioned as an Associate Minister during his tenure at FCC in Katy. He feels particularly drawn to counseling, and plans to pursue a master's degree in that field after he graduates from TCU.
Many of you had the opportunity to meet Herb this past Sunday morning or evening, and you'll have an opportunity to do so following worship services this Sunday. He will be sharing the Assistant Ministers' office (Room 301) with Emily Miller and Jessica Vacketta and can be reached there at 817.926.6631 extension 268. Herb's church e-mail address is herb@uccftw.com, and once we've hammered out his weekly office hours I'll send those out as well. We're excited to welcome Herb to our staff, and hope that you'll make him feel welcome as he begins serving in this new calling! |
