Dear youth and parents, I hope that you're staying cool this week as the temperatures have finally reached the sustained intensity of a typical Fort Worth summer. My parents just returned to the mountains of Virginia today after visiting for a week, and I don't think they'll be choosing early August for any future trips to see their granddaughter. This Sunday marks the end of Will Brown and Hannah Fisher's 10 weeks on staff as our summer youth ministry interns. Both of them worked incredibly hard this summer and took on a number of challenging projects both in and outside UCC's youth ministry. Be sure to let them know how much you appreciated their time with us if you see them this Sunday, or e-mail them a note at will@uccftw.com or hannah@uccftw.com. There's a lot coming up this weekend, and registration is underway for the annual Back-to-School Retreat next weekend. Read on for more information on how to plug in to these great events! Drive-in movie this Friday night for CYF and new freshmen
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  UCC's high school youth and our new freshmen will be traveling to Granbury this Friday night to see "The Other Guys" at the Brazos Drive-In. The group will meet at UCC at 7:30 p.m. to carpool to Granbury and should return around 11:30. Participants will need $5 (plus money for the snack bar) and a lawn chair or blanket is recommended.
Adults are needed to serve as drivers/chaperones for the event. If you're willing and able to do so, contact Jessica Vacketta at jessica@uccftw.com.

Farewell receptions for Anna Ross this Sunday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  This Sunday, August 8 will be Anna's last at UCC before she starts her new job as Youth Minister at Central Christian Church in Weatherford. You will have several opportunities to say thanks for her two years of service as Assistant Minister for Chi Rho and her time as a youth group sponsor, summer intern, and member of the Chancel Choir. In the morning, there will be receptions for Anna in the Gallery following the 8:45 and 11:00 worship services. On Sunday evening, you're invited to Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. for a reception following The Search that will include cake, ice cream, a slideshow, and a special presentation. I'll look forward to seeing you this Sunday! Note: In addition to the reception at 6 p.m., you ought to come hear Sheridan Ruiz preach at The Search at 5:00. This is the third and final Sunday that one of our high school youth will be preaching, and they've enjoyed great support from the congregation each week. |
Mission Trip Shareholders Luncheon this Sunday at 12:15 p.m. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~ Participants in the youth mission trips and their families are invited to join all those who bought stock in the trips for the Mission Trip Shareholders Luncheon this Sunday at 12:15 p.m. in Room 207. Our missionaries will share photos and stories from the Chi Rho Mission Trip to Athens and the CYF Mission Trip to Yakama Christian Mission.
The luncheon is free for shareholders and $5 each for everyone else. If you plan to attend, please e-mail Sharyn at sharyn@uccftw.com so that we can order enough food for everyone.

Register now for the Back-to-School Retreat - August 13-15
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 All youth entering grades 6-12 are invited to the annual Back-to-School Retreat, scheduled for August 13-15. Over the weekend our youth and adult sponsors and teachers will travel to Briarwood Retreat Center near Flower Mound for group building, prayer, fellowship, worship, small groups, and fun.
The group will meet at UCC at 7 p.m. on Friday night and return to the church in time for Sunday school. Cost is $95 per participant and scholarships are available upon request. This is a great way to get to know other youth and adult leaders as we begin a new year, so be sure not to miss it!
