Dear youth and parents, The staff and Youth Committee had a great time with Lesleigh Carmichel and Missy Carfield from Youth Ministry Architects this past weekend. When our work was done, we had developed a catchy metaphor for how to get involved with the youth ministry at UCC (a highway, with various stages of commitment), a comprehensive re-design of our Sunday morning curriculum structure from 6th-12th grade, and a great start on designing a programming sequence for Sunday evenings to build on and complement our Sunday morning offerings. I'm excited to share the results of that work with you, but it needs quite a bit of formatting and fine-tuning before it is ready for consumption by the general public. Don't worry, though - we'll be unveiling the new design for our long-range curriculum soon and I think you'll be as excited as the staff and youth committee! After that productive time, we're now headed into another exciting weekend for the whole church. Youth baptisms in all three worship services ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the Church and the day that we will be baptizing youth who have completed UCC's Faith Development Class. I wanted to share the names of all the youth who will be baptized so that you can keep them in your prayers. They are:

Last youth group meetings of the school year on Sunday night
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 This Sunday night, May 23, will be the last night of Chi Rho and CYF youth groups for this school year. Snack supper will take place at 6:00 as usual, followed by Chi Rho (grades 6-8) and CYF (9-12) youth groups from 6:30 - 7:30. Regular Sunday night programming will start up again on August 22.
While Sunday night meetings are on break, there will be lots of special fellowship events for youth groups this summer! Watch your mailboxes this coming week for our summer event postcard, and mark your calendars for June and July.

Room In The Inn volunteer training this Monday evening

 All are welcome to attend Room in the Inn
training on Monday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian
Church. Join others from participating Fort Worth churches as we hear
from speakers representing the City of Fort Worth, the Day Resource
Center and Room in the Inn. Those new to Room In The Inn will receive training that allows them to volunteer as we welcome homeless guests at UCC over the summer. First Presbyterian Church is located at 1000 Penn Street on the west side of downtown.

Youth volunteers needed for Vacation Bible School - June 15-18
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to volunteer for UCC's annual Vacation Bible School, scheduled for June 15-18 (Tuesday - Friday). This year's theme is "Going Green: The Earth Our Home" and youth can volunteer to help with preschool or grades K-3. There are many areas to volunteer, including recreation, storytelling, music, crafts, decorations, snacks, and serving as an assistant group leader. Summer camp and mission trip registration continues
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  The deadline for the early bird discount has passed, but you can still register for summer camps and the CYF Mission Trip.
