Dear youth and parents,

I hope that you enjoyed the inspiring worship services that our youth led this past Sunday. Every year I am more and more impressed by the ways that our young people express their faith and put together sermons, music, drama, and more to communicate a theme to the congregation.  Thanks again to Anna Ross and Jessica Vacketta for all the work they did over the last few weeks to coordinate, rehearse, contact, schedule, and double-check so that the vision and enthusiasm of our youth could come through in the Sunday services.

Last night we also had a great time celebrating our high school graduates at the Senior Banquet.  Fellowship Hall looked great with tables decorated in honor of each graduate and display boards featuring senior photos and baby photos.  Thanks to Jessica Vacketta for all the work she did to coordinate the event, to the planning committee (Amy Brown, Laurie Hix, Kristi Hoban, Charlece James, and Cathy Taylor) for their work to make sure each piece was in place and made for a special evening, and to Ginger Alford for a great (and time-consuming) slide show.  I know our seniors appreciated the love and recognition they received from their church family.

I will be working my way back into an office routine this weekend as my paternity leave wraps up.  Read on for info on the upcoming Chi Rho Pool Party, UCC's continued work with Youth Ministry Architects, a mission trip deadline, and more.

Grace and Peace,
Russ

Chi Rho pool party this Sunday at the Midgleys' for grades 6-8 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pool party graphicAll youth in grades 6-8 are invited to a pool party this Sunday afternoon to inaugurate the new pool at the home of Chi Rho Sunday school teacher Steve Midgley.  The Midgley family will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, and each youth should bring a side (chips, salsa, dip) or a simple dessert (cookies, brownies) to share.  The fun will start at 1 p.m. and those who would like to carpool will meet at the UCC front desk after the 11:00 service.  Pick-up time is 3:30 p.m.  If you're planning to attend, please take a moment to RSVP using the Evite by clicking here.  The Midgleys live at 8217 Drop Tine Dr. in Benbrook.  Click here for a map or here for written directions to their house.

The pool party will take the place of regular Sunday evening Chi Rho youth group this week.  CYF (grades 9-12) will still meet as usual with snack supper at 6 p.m. and youth group from 6:30-7:30.

Youth Ministry Architects return to UCC this weekend

Two consultants from Youth Ministry Architects (YMA) will be working with UCC's youth ministry staff and Youth Committee this weekend.  Lesleigh Carmichel and Missy Carfield (who led our assessment, visioning, and goal-setting efforts in August) will help us build a 7-year scope and sequence for UCC's youth ministry.  After our planning time is complete, we will have a comprehensive plan for what each youth learns and experiences from the time they begin participating in the youth ministry in 6th grade to their graduation after 12th grade.  We're excited to share the results with you after this weekend, and look forward to the positive impact our long-range curriculum plan will have on UCC's ministry to youth.
