Dear youth and parents,
The end of this school year is in sight, which means there are lots of special events and recognitions coming up. This Sunday is a recognition of this year's Faith Development Class at First Sunday Lunch, the following weekend is Youth Sunday in our morning worship services, and the Senior Banquet that honors our high school graduates will be on Wednesday, May 12. I hope you're able to be a part of these events that mark important transitions in the lives of our young people.
And speaking of those events, I would be remiss if I did not gush about the incredible work that Anna Ross and Jessica Vacketta are doing to make them happen. They both led outstanding lock-ins over the past two weekends, and they've been working extra hours to make sure that the upcoming events will be wonderful. Anna has come up with innovative ideas for recognizing our FDC youth and coordinated meaningful gifts for them, Jessica has been collaborating with a planning committee to get everything in place for the Senior Banquet, and they are both in the midst of coordinating lots of details for a great Youth Sunday. As I prepare for two weeks of paternity leave, I know that our youth ministry is in great shape thanks to their leadership!

Special FDC recognition at First Sunday Lunch this weekend

Our monthly First Sunday Lunch for youth and parents is coming up on this Sunday, and this month we'll be doing a special recognition of youth who are completing the Faith Development Class. Those graduating from FDC
will receive keepsakes to
mark their transition in the life of the church, presented by their ministers and older youth. Mark your calendar and plan to head over to Pappas Burger for good food and fellowship following the 11 a.m. worship service (and the brief congregational meeting). Make your reservation for the Senior Banquet on May 12
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Come join the celebration as UCC honors our graduating high school seniors at the Senior Banquet on Wednesday, May 12. The evening will include table displays representing the graduates, a photo slideshow, brief interviews to get to know each senior, the presentation of a special gift, and a blessing of the group by those who have gathered to celebrate them. The dinner will be catered by Los Vaqueros, and the cost is $10 per person. The buffet line begins at 6:15 p.m. and the program will start around 6:45 once everyone is seated. Youth volunteers needed for Vacation Bible School - June 15-18

 Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to volunteer for UCC's annual Vacation Bible School, scheduled for June 15-18 (Tuesday - Friday). This year's theme is "Going Green: The Earth Our Home" and youth can volunteer to help with preschool or grades K-3. There are many areas to volunteer, including recreation, storytelling, music, crafts, decorations, snacks, and serving as an assistant group leader. Summer camp and mission trip registration continues
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  The deadline for the early bird discount has passed, but you can still register for summer camps and mission trips. The tally sheet linked below has been updated with the regular camp registration costs, so if you're ready to register for a summer camp or mission trip...
