Dear youth and parents, Just a couple of quick reminders this holiday week. Saturday is the last regular season home game for TCU, meaning the last chance to raise money until the bowl game on New Year's Eve. Then on Sunday evening all 6th-12th grade youth are encouraged to participate in the Hanging of the Greens, decorating our sanctuary for the seasons of Advent and Christmas. All youth who would like to participate in the service by carrying and hanging greenery will meet in the sanctuary at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon to rehearse. (Youth with reading parts will meet at 3 p.m.) Read below for more details.
Sarah and I will be flying out this afternoon to spend Thanksgiving with my family in Virginia. I'll be back on Saturday afternoon to help prep all of the greenery for a snag-free rehearsal and service on Sunday. I hope that all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Grace and Peace, Russ

costs for camps, mission trips, and the ski retreat (plus funds for
UCC's youth ministry to use for scholarships and 3rd floor
improvements).
Volunteers should sign in by 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Kickoff will be at noon.

Hanging of the Greens at UCC's Advent Celebration on Sunday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UCC's youth will again be dressing our sanctuary for the seasons of Advent and Christmas in a special Hanging of the Greens service this Sunday, November 29. This year's service will be part of an Advent Celebration that begins at 5 p.m. with a special edition of The Search, featuring family-friendly Advent stations and activities. Dinner will be served immediately following the service, after which worshippers will move to the sanctuary for seasonal hymns and readings that accompany the dressing of the worship space.
All youth in grades 6-12 are encouraged to participate in this fun, festive service. Those with speaking parts will gather in the sanctuary at 3 p.m. on Sunday, and all participating youth will meet at 4 p.m. to walk through the service with the greenery. Rehearsals will conclude at 5 p.m. so that all participants can join the congregation at The Search to begin the Advent Celebration. A monacle (as pictured above) is optional.
