Dear youth and parents, What an incredible weekend for our youth (and our congregation)! On Saturday, our volunteers netted roughly $11,000 parking cars in our church lots for the ESPN GameDay broadcast and the sold-out TCU vs. Utah game. Half of that money goes to the accounts of volunteers to use for mission trips, camps, and other church activities. The other half goes to the youth ministry for scholarships, capital improvements, and more. When the games and volunteer shifts are averaged out for the season, every shift worked is worth over $80. If you're not taking advantage of this opportunity to reduce the cost of youth events, you have two more opportunities: November 28 at the TCU season finale and December 31 at the Armed Forces Bowl held at Amon Carter Stadium. On Sunday night, our youth did a fabulous job of leading the congregation in worship at The Search. The band Raydiant Darkness (Ben, Patrick, and Roy) covered the song "Secret Crowds" by Angels & Airwaves as part of The Search's annual iFaith series, and our preachers (Allison, Lance, and Timothy) shared inspirational messages that interpreted the song and the scripture (Isaiah 11:1-9) in light of their faith. Thanks to all the youth participants who planned and constructed prayer stations, created and led litanies, read scripture, served communion, received the offering, prayed, commissioned, and even rapped. Thanks also to Anna, Isaac, and all of our sponsors who planned, prepared, and coordinated for the service. I'm looking forward to our youth's continued leadership in worship in the months to come! Grace and Peace, Russ |

Hanging of the Greens at UCC's Advent Celebration - Nov. 29
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UCC's youth will again be dressing our sanctuary for the seasons of Advent and Christmas in a special Hanging of the Greens service on Sunday, November 29. This year's service will be part of an Advent Celebration that begins at 5 p.m. with a special edition of The Search, featuring family-friendly Advent stations and activities. Dinner will be served immediately following the service, after which worshippers will move to the sanctuary for seasonal hymns and readings that accompany the dressing of the worship space.
All youth in grades 6-12 are encouraged to participate in this fun, festive service. Those with speaking parts will gather in the sanctuary at 3 p.m. on November 29, and all participating youth will meet at 4 p.m. to walk through the service with the greenery. Rehearsals will conclude at 5 p.m. so that all participants can join the congregation at The Search to begin the Advent Celebration. A monacle (as pictured to the right) is optional.
