Dear youth and parents,

We have a BIG Sunday coming up this weekend with the beginning of our Youth Trialogue at Beth-El Congregation in the morning, an all-church potluck luncheon in Fellowship Hall to celebrate our stewardship campaign in the afternoon, and young children invading the 3rd Floor for a special "Hall"-oween event staffed by youth and adults in the evening.  Be sure to read below for details on the Trialogue and "Hall"-oween events since they will affect our usual Sunday school and youth group programming.  Also, be sure to try out the cakes that several of our youth will be entering in the cake baking contest on Sunday afternoon.  We're hoping to take home the trophy -- the miniature bell tower that the youth painted and decorated for the campaign.  It would be a nice addition to our 3rd floor decor, don't you think?

Also, I have posted a photo gallery from my 3-week rotation at the Army's Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana in September.  Hopefully it will give you a sense of what I do serving God and country as an Army Reserve chaplain.  Click here to take a look.

Grace and Peace,
Russ

Trialogue logo UCC's youth in grades 7-10 will be joining with Jewish and Muslim youth for a three-part "trialogue" that kicks off this Sunday, October 25.  Participants will meet in Fellowship Hall at 9:30 a.m. to carpool to Beth-El Congregation where they will learn more about Judaism. The event ends at noon and participants will return to the church at 12:15 p.m.

The series will continue on November 8 when we welcome Jewish and Muslim youth to UCC for a program focused on Christianity, followed by the final event on November 15 at the Islamic Association of Tarrant County hosted by our Muslim neighbors.  A few notes about the trialogue:

- This event will take the place of Chi Rho boys/girls and CYF Alpha (grades 9-10) Sunday school classes.  Faith Development Class and CYF Omega (grades 11-12) will still meet, and CYF bell ringers in grades 9 and 10 will attend CYF Omega.

- We will have very snazzy t-shirts to order.  Click here for a preview.

- Parents interested in driving/chaperoning should e-mail me at russ@uccftw.com.  I've had two beyond our teachers/staff volunteer, and could use a couple more.

Halloween bag Children 5th grade and younger will be heading up to the youth classrooms on the 3rd floor this Sunday evening for a special "Hall"-oween event, and youth have a big part to play in the festivities.  Each classroom will be set up with a different game or activity, and children will make their way down the hall to experience each of them during the night.  Chi Rho and CYF youth will be assisting with each of the activities and passing out candy in each of the rooms that the children visit.

Youth are invited to dress up (not TOO scary, please) and be on the 3rd floor at 6 p.m. to get oriented to the room where they will be assisting (children will arrive at 6:30).  A hot dog supper will be provided for youth, children, and adults alike.

Next parking lot fundraiser - October 31 at 12:30 p.m.

Anna's staff photo UCC's youth and parents have an opportunity to raise money again on Saturday, October 31 by parking cars for the big TCU-UNLV homecoming game.  Each hour worked by youth and/or parents earns credit toward registration costs for camps, mission trips, and the ski retreat (plus funds for UCC's youth ministry to use for scholarships and 3rd floor improvements).  The last few games have brought in over $50 of credit per volunteer on average.

Volunteers should sign in by 12:30 p.m. on October 31.  Kickoff will be at 3 p.m.

iFaith graphic Make plans now to worship at The Search on November 15 at 5 p.m. as our middle and high schoolers lead the service.  Youth will be planning worship and assigning parts at Sunday evening youth groups on November 1 and 8.  This year's service will be part of the popular iFaith series at The Search that examines a different scripture and pop song each week to see how the two might inform or reflect the life of faith.
