Dear youth and parents,
I just returned last night from an incredible CYF Mission Trip to Tennessee. If you have talked to a trip participant, you have already heard stories about work projects, poison ivy, bobbleheads, concussions, great food, ticks, Graceland Too, and more. If you'd like to get a taste that doesn't quite do any of the experiences justice, I would encourage you to follow the link below and look through over 200 pictures on the blog. Sarah and I will be flying to Indianapolis tomorrow morning to attend the General Assembly of the Christian Chuch (Disciples of Christ) and will return on Sunday evening. We will be joined by thousands of Disciples from across the country (including many UCC staff members), and we're looking forward to great worship services and workshops, fellowship with old friends, and working together to chart the future of our particular expression of the Christian faith. High school youth outing to drive-in movie this Friday

Our
high school youth will be taking a trip to Granbury for a movie at the Brazos
Drive-in this Friday night, July 31. Plan to meet at the church at 7:30 p.m. and bring $5 for
admission (plus additional money if you'd like concessions). The show
begins at 9:00 p.m. and the group should be back at the church around 11:30 p.m.
The
movie this week is "G-Force," the new animated feature from Disney.
Parents: We will need drivers/chaperones for the evening. If you would like to join the fun,

so we can get a count of available seats.

Chi Rho swim day at Burger's Lake - Wednesday, August 5

Our
Chi Rho youth (completed grades 6-8) will be making a trip to Burger's Lake, Fort Worth's old-fashioned swimming hole, on Wednesday, August 5. All youth should meet at the church at 1 p.m. to carpool to the lake and will return to the church by 5:30 p.m.
Bring a towel and $5 for admission, wear sunscreen, and be prepared for a great
time!
Parents: If you can help transport youth to or from the lake (or
would like to spend the afternoon with us) please e-mail Anna Ross at anna@uccftw.com so we can get a count of
available seats.

 A group of 21 high school youth and 8 adults returned from the annual CYF Mission Trip to Tennessee on Sunday night with lots of great stories and pictures. Check out some of them online at www.cyfmissiontrip.org.

Mark your calendar for UCC's Back to School Retreat
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UCC's
youth who are entering grades 6-12 will kick off a new year together with the
Back-to-School Retreat next month. Youth and adult
sponsors will meet at UCC at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 14 to travel to Briarwood
Retreat Center in Argyle and return on Sunday, August 16 at 9:45 a.m. for
Sunday school and worship. During the
weekend, the group will spend time growing closer to God and each other through
worship, small groups, prayer, games, and other fellowship-oriented
activities. The event is an excellent
way to bond as youth groups and to get to know adult staff and volunteer
leaders better, setting the stage for a great year of spiritual growth in UCC's
youth ministry. The cost for the retreat
is $95 per person, which includes two nights lodging, four meals, and a
t-shirt. Scholarships are available upon
request. Mark your calendar now, and watch for registration information later this month.
