Dear Friends,

We have had quite the month at Morris Interactive! The furnace in our building has been under repair for the past 2 weeks, a pipe burst above us that flooded half of our office, but amongst all of of that we have gotten the privilege to work with some pretty special organizations facilitating retreats, doing keynote presentations, preparing governance manuals , training and so much more! So despite some minor environmental setbacks, there are still a lot of exciting things happening with Morris Interactive.

In our last newsletter, we never had the chance to introduce a new full-time facilitator to our team - Vince Bruni-Bossio. Vince coordinates the Strategic Planning process for Morris Interactive.  He also works as a professional facilitator specializing in Strategic Planning, Leadership, Conflict Resolution, Governance and Group Dynamics.Vince has been teaching principles in leadership, communication and strategy for over ten years.  When he was eighteen years old, he suffered a serious injury to his spine.  Recovering from this injury took over twenty years and was the greatest challenge Vince has ever faced.  To recover, he had to seek out knowledge that would both help him heal and develop inner strength.   He found this knowledge in Martial Arts, studying for over for ten years before opening his own school in Toronto that focused on teaching life skills.  Vince ran this school for seven years and used the inner knowledge he had learned in Martial Arts to help people develop confidence, inner strength, communication skills, and grounding principles.  He was asked to facilitate many groups in Toronto, including groups that focused on expression, leadership and mentorship skills.

Since coming to Saskatoon, Vince has worked at the University of Saskatchewan as a researcher, for the Saskatoon Business College teaching confidence building, communication skills, networking, computer skills and workshops for teachers on group dynamics and teaching skills.  He also worked as the coordinator for the Saskatchewan Capacity of Internationally-Trained Professionals for two years. Vince has an MBA from the Edwards School of Business and teaches as a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan.

We are pleased to welcome Vince to the Morris Interactive Team!

Promoting a Healthy Workplace - Gen-X Feeling the Squeeze?

A client approached me the other day looking for some additional information on training focusing on closing the generation gap in their workplace. This has become a popular topic over the last few years as the generational gap seems to be getting bigger; people are not retiring as early as planned and young people striving to make a name for themselves. But it got me thinking what else we can do about this?

Even though we often focus on that generational gap, sometimesd we overlook the fact that all generations are under more pressure than ever before. In the past decade, most companies have changed their compensation package to allow for a more balanced lifestyle, encouraging not only corporate but family values as well. At the same time, that added pressure and stress on individuals to be the best "everythings", (partner, parent, coworker, daughter/son, etc) while trying to juggle a 'crazy-busy' lifestyle puts their health at risk.

The following article in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix talks about Generation X feeling the squeeze and how it is affecting their health - something we can't ignore!

Healthy at Every Age - Generation X Feeling the Squeeze

In addition to focusing on closing the generational gap, companies should also be thinking about offering "Stress Management" workshops to offer some tips of stress relief, time management practices and healthy nutrition in times of stress.
