By being aware of other cultures and being aware of how your behaviors impact others, you will be one step closer to that success you desire.

Investing in the Future by Investing in our Community
|
|
Times
are changing... as they always do! In Saskatchewan
we are recovering from an economic downturn after a period of abundant
prosperity. So often, in these times, budgets for training opportunities are the
first things to be cut or downsized. However, it is these training
opportunities that can be vital to jump starting new business ventures and
employee morale. Many
businesses can benefit from investing in courses like Aboriginal awareness and
diversity training. Knowledge in these areas opens up doors for new
partnerships, unexplored markets, and maximizing employee productivity and
efficiency. Some of Canada's
largest and most successful businesses, such as the Royal Bank of Canada,
Cameco, and SaskPower, recognize the value and importance of cultivating diversity
in the workplace. I
am from the Thunderchild First Nation and I have been developing and
facilitating educational workshops for many years. But if someone had told me
that when I graduated from university that I would be doing what I am doing now
I would have laughed. But there is a definite need for this type of training in
our community. The
Aboriginal community is young in Saskatchewan
and it is growing faster than the non-Aboriginal population. By 2016, over 30%
of the population 15 - 29 years of age will be Aboriginal. This is our future
labour pool and a potential market for many businesses in our community. Are you ready? You
have the opportunity to invest in the future by attending the workshop, "Full Circle: Connecting with the Aboriginal Community" on August 10, 2010. This
engaging, informative and interactive workshop provides context for current
challenges in our community, dispels common misconceptions and offers practical
tools for businesses looking to invest in the future. This is an opportunity
you won't want to miss!

Awareness of Our IMPACT on Others
|
|
The
Free Online Dictionary defines awareness as 'knowledge or cognizance.' Our awareness of our impact on others is vital
to our business success, from our Leadership style, to our Customer Service
interactions, to our Sales Success. Every
person that we interact with has their own set of needs and a specific
orientation. To get the most out of personal interactions, we must be aware of
how our behavior impacts others, and how their behavior impacts our
impressions of them. , as developed by Tracom is an invaluable tool in becoming aware of
others' needs and orientations. A study done by Colorado State University
determined that Social Styles (TM) were more practical, memorable and easier to
use than either DiSC or Myers-Briggs. The
accompanying videos will serve as a practical primer on the potential of using
Social Styles (TM). To view the short videos, please click on the titles below.
