Greetings!,
Students are on spring break here this week here, but I wanted to fill you in on some exciting things happening here at Hope this spring.
KTIS names Hope Ministry of the Month First, local Christian radio station KTIS (FM 98.5 and AM 900) has selected Hope Academy as its "Ministry of the Month" for the month of
April. We're not sure how this happened--but we're humbled and
excited. I was recently interviewed at KTIS by Kare-11's Julie Nelson,
and Josiah Remus-Ford (3rd grade) and Elijah Young (grade 7) joined me
(see photo). In addition to four short promos every day for the entire month, a 15-minute radio program about Hope will air this Saturday, April 3, at 6:00am. Be sure to listen!
10th grade returns from mission trip
From L to R: 10th graders Kelly Klos, Jemimah Chiasuk, Alyssa Zink, Leah Ferguson, Ashley Klos, Christy Miller, Caleb Miller, Alex Marquez, Merhawi Temnewo, Freddie Lawler, Giovanni Herrera | Second, on Sunday our tenth graders returned from a seven-day mission trip in Monterrey,
Mexico. The students helped build a house, assisted with a
Vacation Bible School in an orphanage, and ministered in other ways.
Upper School Principal Nathan Ziegler accompanied the students, and said this: "It was a wonderful trip in which the students did a phenomenal job
representing Hope Academy and Christ as they served in Mexico. I was
very proud of how they did!"
HOPEworks summer internships This summer we are hoping to provide these same 10th graders with another life-shaping experience--an internship. Our HOPEworks internship program envisions students working alongside Christians in either the private or non-profit sector. This year is our pilot year, and we still have 5-6 internship openings.
Would you consider representing your business or ministry and serve as a HOPEworks mentor for one of our tenth graders this summer (see dates below)? We hope to have various careers represented.
If you're interested, or would like to learn more, contact Rebekah Adair by e-mail at: radair@hopeschool.org. (Rebekah is interning with us to coordinate this program).
HOPEworks Internship schedule (during our summer session). 9:15am-11:45am, Monday-Thursday, June 14-17 9:15am-11:45am, Monday-Thursday, June 21-24 9:15am-11:45am, Monday-Thursday, June 28-July 1 9:15am-11:45am, Tuesday-Friday, July 6-9
Other Upcoming Highlights/Events:
- We are hosting a one-hour "Tour of
Hope" on Thursday, April
8th (12-1pm) - a great time to introduce friends to the ministry of Hope
Academy. Friends can register here.
- Friends of Hope Academy are hosting a Spring Gift Boutique fundraiser on Saturday, April 24th (1-5pm).
At least nine local artists will be selling jewelry, children's
clothing, baby gifts, art, accessories, purses, and more--with between
20% and 100% of the proceeds going to Hope Academy and another
non-profit.
- "Creative Expression Night"
is one of the neatest events we do here at Hope. Students memorize
poetry, Bible verses, and mini-dramas, and perform them in small
settings. Due to the size of the school, we now do two separate nights.
The night is geared toward parents and families, but you are welcome to
join us for one or both! (Let Dan Olson know if you're planning on coming--dolson@hopeschool.org).
- Tuesday, April 13 (7:00-8:30pm) - Grades K-5 - Tuesday, April 20 (7:00-8:30pm) - Grades 6-10
- Last but not least, don't forget to "Save the Date" for Partner Day, Thursday, May 6th (11-1pm). (RSVP to Dan Olson at dolson@hopeschool.org or 612-721-6294 ext. 106).
As always, thank you for your passion for providing a remarkable, God-centered education to the youth of the city. Without you, there would literally be no Hope.
Blessing in Christ,
Russ Gregg
Head of School
