CHARITY OF THE MONTH
|
Please Make A Donation To Support Haiti's Only Film School
Ciné Institute began as a film festival in Jacmel, Haiti. Held for three years, "Festival Film Jakmél" screened hundreds of films from around the world, free of charge to local audiences. Ciné Institute was completely destroyed by a devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010. However, the dedicated film students from the Institute continue to produce heart wrenching short films that serve as a living chronicle of the Haiti's still-unfolding crisis, and their commitment to community storytelling. CINÉ INSTITUTE MISSION:
To use the power of cinema, integrated educational programming,
technical training and media production support, Ciné Institute
educates and empowers Haitian youth who seek the creative, technical
and business skills necessary to grow local media industries that can
provide jobs and spur economic growth needed to improve their lives and
the lives of others.
CINÉ INSTITUTE PROGRAMS:
- Ciné
Lekòl - a film school offering training in fiction documentary and
commercials.
- Ciné Services - an income generating production center for
film school students and graduates.
- Ciné Klas - daily educational film
screenings in partnership with national public schools, and
- Ciné Klub -
weekly public screenings of world cinema.
ACT NOW and provide critical support for Haiti's film school.

MARCH 26 - 27, 2010
THE LOUISIANA FILM FESTIVAL- Student Division, a co-presentation of Centenary College of
Louisiana and The Robinson Film Center, is Louisiana's only film festival
dedicated exclusively to showcasing the original work of K-12 students. The
festival was created to provide students interested in the media arts with a
forum to share their work, experience works created by fellow students, and
interact with film industry professionals. Each year, a professional filmmaker
attends the festival, screens his or her work, and hosts a Q&A session with
students and the public.
