What About the "Off" Season?
People often ask what we do here at Riverbend between summer camps.  Yes, it is true that we have over 10,000 campers and leaders during summer and that it is the busiest ten or eleven weeks of the year.  But during retreat season, we host between 15,000 and 16,000 guests made up of groups of ladies, men, youth, children, singles, families, Sr. Adults, couples, church staffs and schools.  In fact, there is not a week goes by that there is not a group here at the Bend.

This is thrilling for us because Riverbend exists to serve people...the more the merrier!  The other side of this is that people come here for a reason!  They have recognized that there is great value in coming aside from the day to day grind, the pressures and the challenges that life (and the enemy)constantly throws our way.  There is something about solitude, about fellowship with believers and about recreation that renews our soul, strengthens our spirits and sets us on a course to go back and thrive in our lives.

What about you?  How long has it been since you went on a reatreat?  As the old chili commercial states, "Well, that's too long!"  Please plan a time with your church, your family or just by yourself to come out and be renewed and refreshed!  It all starts with a phone call or email, which are both listed on the left panel...do it, today!

P.S.  Please mark Thursday, October 28th on your calendar.  Riverbend is hosting the 1st annual "Friends of Riverbend" Dinner.  We would love to have you join us to find out more about this ministry and how you can be involved in reaching literally thousands for Christ each year.

Getting Back to the Heart of Worship!
worship center footprint

Your help is needed to get "Back to the Heart of Worship!"
Riverbend partners with churches to reach out to over 10,000 campers and leaders each summer.  While hundreds of these campers make life-changing decisions, we feel that even more young people can be reached by updating our worship facility to better communicate the gospel message.

When the Activities Center was built 10 years ago, it would serve as an interim summer camp worship center.  The Board of Directors, staff and summer camp leaders have determined that it is time to remodel the gymnasium building into a Worship Center...it is time for RRC to make this essential update to our worship facility.

Steve Farrar
 Tuesday, October 5th, 2010
5pm to 9pm

Steve Farrar is the founder and chairman of Men's Leadership Ministries. He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, where he majored in Speech Communication. He holds a Master's degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and an earned doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. In writing his doctoral dissertation, Steve surveyed over 1,000 men from across the nation, and questioned them about their marriages, their children, their careers, and their ethics. Steve's original research into the needs of Christian men became the basis for his conferences and his books.   Steve Farrar is the author of the best-selling book, Point Man: How a Man Can Lead His Family. With over 500,000 copies now in print, Point Man was the catalyst for his leaving the pastorate after 15 years and focusing his ministry on equipping men for spiritual leadership. Shortly after the release of Point Man, Steve began to receive speaking invitations from all over the nation.
