Cedar Bluff Lodge ...Ready to Go!
Cedar Bluff Complete
Praise the Lord, Cedar Bluff Lodge, the new 12-room Adult and Family Lodge was completed by Summer Camp!  Church leaders stay in Cedar Bluff during the summer and it is available for retreats from August through May.

The lodge is already a popular facility as a good number of reservations have been received for this fall.  Call the office for more information and to make reservations.

The breezeway, the large comfortable
rooms and the view from the back porch are
highlights of Cedar Bluff Lodge.

Celebration Prayer Garden
Riverbend's campers and guests have received a wonderful gift from Howard and Sue Schutt...a beautiful prayer garden next to the Dining Hall.  The Schutts, members of South Oaks Baptist Church, felt God's leadership to provide this prayer garden as they recalled how much places like this had meant to them in the past.  Their gift will be a blessing  to all who come to Riverbend as the prayer garden will provide a wonderful place to spend time with God and with one another.

The garden has ten benches, three ponds with waterfalls and two streams all surrounded by beautiful plants, shrubs and trees.  The water feature ends in a 12 foot waterfall over the natural bluff.  A new overlook deck has been built to take advantage of this spectacular view.  The next time you are at Riverbend, get that early cup of coffee and spend some time in this beautiful new garden.

Cabin 4 and 5 to Receive Extreme Makeover
Cabin 4

Thanks to a generous gift from the Wynonia Pallmeyer Estate, Cabin 4 will receive a total renovation beginning in August.  Plans for the 80-bed cabin are to enlarge the meeting room and restrooms, new roof, new sidings, new windows as well as to totally upgrade the interior.  A new parking area will be added and an overlook deck will be built out over the bluff in front of the cabin.   Cabin 5 is scheduled to receive the same renovation in the fall of 2009.

If your group would like to bring a volunteer group and work on this cabin, please let us know.

Riverbend Wish List...Can You Help?
Riverbend depends on donations of gifts-in-kind to meet many of the practical needs in the ongoing operations.  These gifts vary from vehicles as have been given by FBC, Grapevine, Steve and Wayneen Cassidy, Carl and Paula Langley and Mitch Donald of Superior Pools.  Troy and Joane Allen donated a generator.  Wedgwood Baptist Church designated funds to purchase commercial washers and dryers as well as a commercial mower.  Bob and Doris Mayers purchased and donated a new Automatic External Defribilator that Riverbend had on the Wish List.

  • Skid Steer Loader (Bobcat)
  • Large Heavy Duty charcoal grills
  • Ditch Witch or other trencher
  • Scissor Lift
  • Help relocating a semi trailer on campus

Waterfront Renovation

blobsWater Recreation is a vital part of Summer Camps.  Providing exciting, new recreation activities is vital to reaching boys and girls for Christ.

Plans are in process to renovate the current waterfront and your help is needed.  The project includes:
  • New Elevated Platform for blobs

  • New Trapeze into water
  • Decks and shades for seating areas
  • New 100' water slide

We have raised $21,000 towards this project and still need $29,000.  Any amount you can give will help in reaching this goal and completing this project before summer of 2009.  Contact the Riverbend Office for more information, email alton@riverbendretreat.org or click here to give online.
