Cedar Bluff Lodge Update
cedar bluff viewIn their January meeting, the Riverbend Board of Directors voted to name the main meeting room in Cedar Bluff Lodge, the "Bass Conference Room."  This is in honor of Dr. James Bass who was instrumental in Riverbend receiving the funds to build this lodge.  Dr. Bass pastored Richland Hills Baptist Church for many years before retiring and becoming Assistant Pastor, Hospital/Homebound at Travis Avenue Baptist Church.

This twelve-room facility with two meeting areas is on schedule to be ready for use for summer camp.  The Bass Conference Room will seat 120 and the smaller meeting room with a fireplace will seat 40 and has a separate kitchen/dining area.  The meeting rooms are accessible from a covered breezeway constructed of natural cedar.

The oversized sleeping rooms have two twins and one queen bed, a sitting area with desk, central heat and air, private bath with eight of the rooms having a tub/shower and four accessible rooms have a shower.  One of the highlights of the lodge is a covered back porch with a beautiful view that is accessible from each room.  The rooms will have a very high comfort level while still having a rustic, country feel.

A Dedication Service and tour of Cedar Bluff Lodge is scheduled for May 17th at 10am.  You are invited to attend this special service and stay for lunch.
Celebration Prayer Garden Update
Riverbend's campers and guests have received a wonderful gift from Howard and Sue Schutt...a beautiful prayer garden next to the Dining Hall.  The Schutts, members of South Oaks Baptist Church, felt God's leadership to provide this prayer garden as they recalled how much places like this had meant to them in the past.  Their gift will be a blessing  to all who come to Riverbend as the prayer garden will provide a wonderful place to spend time with God and with one another.

The garden will include ten benches, three ponds and two streams all surrounded by beautiful plants, shrubs and trees.  The water feature will end in a fourteen foot waterfall over the natural bluff.  A new overlook deck has been built to take advantage of this spectacular view.

A dedication service will be held in May.  Watch for details and all are invited to come and see this wonderful new addition to the Riverbend grounds and join in the celebration and dedication of this prayer garden to the Lord.

Cabin 4 and 5 to Receive Extreme Makeover
Cabin 4Two years ago, a letter from James Bass was received stating
that Riverbend was to receive a gift from the Wynonia Pallmeyer Estate.  It was estimated that the amount would be $500,000, which was designated to build a new adult lodge.  Any funds over that amount was designated towards the cabin renovation project.

The 2nd distribution check was received two weeks ago and because the mineral rights were sold with much of the land holdings, the total of Riverbend's gift is $815,000!

Not only is Cedar Bluff Lodge going to be built, but there is enough left over to totally renovate cabins 4 and 5.  We praise God for this unimaginable blessing!
