Worth Repeating

The Gas Company issued a Press Release just about a year ago in response to an earthquake and, in light of the recent tragedy in Japan, it is worth repeating.

Energy Champion Program for
Non-Profits

This June, the County of Los Angeles is launching Energy Champions in the South Bay as a way for non-profit organizations to promote the Energy Upgrade message for the greater good of our communities and the environment. Energy Champions is an innovative way for non-profit organizations to raise money by introducing energy efficiency upgrades to homeowners in their community network.   An enrolled Energy Champion will earn up to $500 for each homeowner they contact who completes an Energy Upgrade.

Cash for Kitchens Continues in 2011

The SBESC is working with West Basin Municipal Water District to bring the Cash for Kitchens program to commercial kitchens in the South Bay.  Any commercial kitchen can qualify - there are no size requirements and the kitchen can be in a business, restaurant, organization, church or city facility.  The program consists of a FREE assessment of water and energy usage, with a follow up of specific recommendations that the owner / manager can do to save money.

Going Broke at the Pump?vanpool

We have a solution for that.  It's called Vanpooling.  Some people call it Ridesharing.   Either name gets the same results: less stress, less commute time, and with current incentives you can save money while arriving at your destination calm and relaxed.

SBESC has partnered with LA Metro to promote this program and we would be happy to come to your business, club or service organization to explain all the advantages of this timely program at no charge.

Just give us a call at (310) 371-7222 to schedule a speaker.

Volunteer Spotlight

Nancy Goodson

Nancy Goodson first came to the South Bay Environmental Services Center to exchange her outdated inefficient Christmas lights for new LED Christmas lights in December 2010. Little did she expect to find a whole world of sustainability and California energy programs behind those doors. Since that day Nancy has been an active volunteer with SBESC.
