New GL LogoThe Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair (CCAR) welcomes GMG EnviroSafe, Inc. (EnviroSafe), Winnetka, Illinois, as a compliance partner for the automotive collision repair industry. In addition to premier online training, collision repair businesses may now have access through CCAR to the process, materials and support to implement a cost-effective, comprehensive compliance process.

EnviroSafe is a leading provider of compliance products and services for collision repair facilities, combining the efficiency of offsite and onsite support. "We are proud to welcome EnviroSafe as a Compliance Partner," said Daren Fristoe, CCAR President and Chief Operating Officer. "The combination of CCAR and EnviroSafe represents a milestone in our organization's history, as we add the extensive capabilities of EnviroSafe's offsite and onsite compliance processes to our successful S/P2 e-learning program. We believe that our joint customers will be well-served by utilizing both e-learning and the process, materials and support provided by EnviroSafe."

GL Shop LogoLouisiana, Pennsylvania Facilities Join CCAR's "GreenLink Shop" Roster

Auto repair facilities in Louisiana and Pennsylvania have received recognition this month in the Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair's (CCAR) GreenLink Shops program.

An extension of CCAR's CCAR-GreenLink Environmental Compliance Assistance Center and S/P2 Safety and Pollution Prevention E-learning Program, the GreenLink Shop status serves to promote consumer confidence in local automotive repair facilities' environmental/safety awareness and stewardship.

The new GreenLink Shops are:

  • Auto Show Collision Center, Philadelphia, Pa.
  • Frank's Accurate Body Shop, Slidell, La.

A complete roster of GreenLink Shop participants is posted at www.ccar-greenlink.org/glsdirectory.html.

Repair facilities seeking the GreenLink Shop recognition must maintain high standards of excellence in environmental, health and safety (EHS) practices in four categories: business operations, employee training, safety compliance and environmental management. The CCAR initiative recognizes auto service facilities and collision repair shops, with separate criteria established for each type of business.

For more information on the CCAR GreenLink Shop program, go to www.ccar-greenlink.org/gls or call toll-free to 1-888-476-5465.

OSHA Launches Interactive Site to Help Employers Comply with Recordkeeping Rule
OSHA LOGOThe U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has unveiled a new interactive web tool to help users determine whether injuries and illnesses are work-related and recordable under the OSHA Recordkeeping rules.

The OSHA Recordkeeping Advisor is an interactive tool that simulates an employer's interaction with a Recordkeeping rules expert. The Advisor relies on the users' responses to questions and automatically adapts to the situation presented. Responses put into the program are strictly confidential and the system does not record or store any of the information. The Advisor helps employers determine:
  • Whether an injury or illness (or related event) is work-related
  • Whether an event or exposure at home or on travel is work-related
  • Whether an exception applies to the injury or illness
  • Whether a work-related injury or illness needs to be recorded
  • Which provisions of the regulations apply when recording a work-related injury or illness
"The Recordkeeping Advisor was developed to better help employers understand and comply with their responsibilities to report and record work-related injuries and illnesses," said Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Dr. David Michaels.
