Greetings!
Welcome to the September issue of the S/P2
Newsletter and our new look. We want to
continue to provide you and your business/school
with timely and helpful information on matters
related to the
environmental and safety issues that you deal with
on a daily basis.
The Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) held
its 2006 Instructor Training Conference this year in
Dearborn, Mich. And the Coordinating Committee For
Automotive Repair (CCAR) was there to present awards
to instructors whose AYES school?s ranked in the top
ten for usage of S/P2 during the 2005-2006 school
year.
CCAR, AYES and the National Automobile Dealers Association will combine to award Peter Shore, automotive instructor at Shorewood High School, an expenses-paid trip to attend the 2007 NADA Convention & Exposition, to be held next February in Las Vegas, Nev.
CCAR?s ?S/P2? online training in Safety and
Pollution Prevention is provided free of charge to
the nation?s automotive training programs, and 51
new schools enrolled for S/P2 in August.
For your next monthly meeting with employees or
students, these ?topics? refer to areas of
concern
for your operation ? things that have resulted in
substantial insurance; ones that OSHA has targeted
in their inspection and compliance efforts; or those
with the potential to cause catastrophic claims.
The mission of the KDHE's Division of Environment
is the
protection of the public health and environment. The
Division conducts regulatory programs involving
public water supplies, industrial discharges,
wastewater treatment systems, solid waste landfills,
hazardous waste, air emissions, radioactive
materials, asbestos removal, refined petroleum
storage tanks, and other sources which impact the
environment. In addition, the Division administers
other programs to remediate contamination, lessen
nonpoint pollution, and evaluate environmental
conditions across the state.
