Kathy Ireland
Kathy Ireland & Bob Battle- International Supermodels

BobBattleLaw.com Newsletter
July 2011

Greetings!

Yes, loyal reader, that is THE Kathy Ireland laughing it up with her old pal Bob-L Head. Most of us know Kathy as the swimsuit supermodel who appeared in 13 consecutive Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions from 1984 to 1997. Kathy, now 48, and Bob-L frequently get together to chat and share beauty secrets and discuss how they achieve that  eternally youthful glow. (Kathy has denied any rumors that she has had any work done, but Bob-L admitted he was a regular customer at the local Earl Scheib Paint and Body shop until they all closed in 2010!)

Kathy has had an interesting career path since her modeling days. She tried acting but her, uhh, squeaky voice drew comparisons to the attempts of Lina Lamont to convert from silent films to talkies in "Singin' in the Rain." (Don't get my reference to a 1952 movie? Netflix it- it is still a classic.) In all fairness- critics can be overly harsh. So, let me state for the record that I highly recommend the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 bashing of her fine performance in "Alien from L.A." (Who said this newsletter wasn't fair and balanced?) So what did Kathy turn to next? Selling socks at K-Mart! I know, I know, can you say "See you in bankruptcy court, babe?" A funny thing happened on the way to disaster- ridiculous success. Her company now grosses over a billion dollars per year and Kathy's haul is over $10 million per year. Wow, I would have said she had a better chance of success at making "Alien from L.A. Part 2!"

Bob Battle- International Man of Mystery

Every time I post a photo of Bob-L and a celebrity, I get a ton of comments along the lines of, "Hey funny email newsletter, where do you find the time? Do you have any clients? Can I lend you a few bucks? But seriously, are these pictures real or Photo Shopped?" Nope they are all real... and fantastic. So, you want to know what my connection is to Kathy Ireland.? Well, I know I have never mentioned it before in this fine publication because, like most people who create a bobblehead of themselves, I am extremely modest and humble! If you must know, Kathy and I got to know each other because we were both international models in the 1990's.
OK, you've got our attention- Bob Battle was an international model in the 1990's?
Absolutely true, and here is the photographic evidence.

WeeklyWorld Cover

Weekly World Bob
Yes, that's Bob "Jerry from Houston" Battle in the leather jacket

So here is the true story of my one-hit wonder career as an "international model" for the Weekly World News. Way back in March 1992 I was asked to pose for the story "Twins have same mom and 2 different fathers!" Although it is hard to read from the cover with the "official government photo" of the dolphin with human arms, the paper was distributed in the United States and Canada, thus making me an international model.

When we gathered to take the picture, they were concerned that in a black-and-white photo my hair would look too dark to match my beautiful blonde haired daughter-for-the-day. Thus, they put baby powder in my hair and took the picture outside with the sun shining on my head. My hair looks like it is on fire!

Here's a funny related story- a buddy of mine (and devoted BobBattleLaw Newsletter reader) had a wife who was constantly purchasing the Weekly World News much to her husband's chagrin. They had a young family and money was tight. When he finally had "proof" that the Weekly World News was a sham, he was very excited to show his wife. However, rather than concluding that her husband had been right for all these years, she turned to him and said "I had no idea Bob Battle had any children!" "Uhh, no, Snookums, that was not the conclusion you were supposed to draw from that article."

I guess as I look back on my 5 seconds of fame, I should be glad that I was asked to pose for the story that I was instead of the other story on the front page about the dead hubby whose ghost haunts his widow's toilet!

Books, Books, Coaching & Seminars-
Teaching other lawyers what they fail to teach in law school
I have been very busy writing books and teaching other lawyers who want to "Be like Bob" two critical skills that they don't spend any time teaching them in law school- how to defend DUI cases and how to market a law practice. I am extremely excited that my DUI "textbook style" book titled "Virginia DUI Defense: The Law and Practice" will be released soon. Since I was hired by Lawyers and Judges Publishing Company to write the book along with Arizona DUI stud Jim Nesci, I can't tell you an exact release date. The book also features contributions from many other top DUI lawyers and experts.

Also, I was asked to write a chapter on "Marketing a DUI Practice" for an upcoming book titled "Great Legal Marketing." Again, the book is being published by a national business book publishing company and all I know is that it is supposed to be released by the end of the year.

Announcing 1 Day Legal Marketing Seminar

In April of this year, I was a lecturer at the "Great Legal Marketing" seminar in Fairfax, Virginia and have been asked to lecture at their one day "Rescue Mission Seminar" for lawyers in New Brunswick, NJ, on September 8, 2011.

Are You a DUI, Family Law, Bankruptcy or Estate Planning Lawyer?

I have also been asked to lead the niche coaching for DUI lawyers in Great Legal Marketing. Great Legal Marketing, founded and run by Fairfax Personal Injury lawyer Ben Glass has now expanded its coaching programs to the niches of DUI, Bankruptcy, Family Law and Estate Planning.
For more information on the Rescue Mission Seminar on September 8 or the niche coaching program, visit the "Great Legal Marketing" website. My next niche coaching call is tomorrow, July 21. The topic will not be bobbleheads!

In the next newsletter, I have received many requests for an update on my 2 sons, Conor and Emmett, so I promise to give you articles about the Fabulous Battle Brothers.
Sincerely,

Bob Battle
