| 100+ Ways to Show
Kids You Care |
|

Through daily interactions with kids and observing kids interact with others, the staff at the Manitoba Children's Museum continually see ways in which adults can show kids that they care. We are confident these interactions help build the foundation for kids to succeed. Every month, our staff would like to share some of the ways we believe we can show kids that we care about them.February's List
1. Share information with them.
2. Share your insights with them.
3. Talk about their goals and dreams.
4. If you witness child abuse, report it. For a list of resources that can help, click here.
5. Skip the baby talk.

I Love to Read Month School Programs
Presented by:
Attention teachers!
The Manitoba
Children's Museum is celebrating I Love to Read Month with three brand new imaginative and curriculum-linked
programs for February.
Art
History (Preschool-Kindergarten)
A
picture is worth a thousand words in this program where the world of art
and storytelling collide. Students
will be encouraged to explore various pieces of art in order to uncover the
story behind the picture. They are
the only ones who can tell us what is really taking place!
Treasure Hunt (Grades 1-3)
Reading is truly a treasure in this new school program. Students will get treasure maps
that will lead them to the missing clues. Once the students find the clues, it will be up to these treasure hunters to assemble them in the proper order. Students will
then use creative dramatics to chronicle the treasured story to their
classmates.
Stone Soup Story (Grades 4-6)
The classic folktale Stone Soup offers us a key lesson in
cooperation. This school program will
have your students adding all of the key ingredients as they create a
story together. One by one your students will
garnish and add all the seasoning required until they have a delicious and
wonderful story to be enjoyed by all.
All
programs are $4.75 per student.

Earth
Day is April 22 and the Manitoba Children's Museum is getting
ready to spark your appreciation for the Earth's environment!
To
celebrate, we're offering a discounted rate on two of our most popular and
environmentally-friendly, curriculum-linked school programs:
Paper, Trees and
Me (Kindergarten)
Trees
are our best friends as we explore the paper-making process from start to
finish. This program includes creative
dramatics, a story, and hands-on fun as we explore trees, paper, and the role
of recycling. Students will create their
own environmentally-friendly piece of paper. Supports science learning
outcomes.
Ocean Adventure
(Grade 1 & 2)
In
this exciting program students will study the characteristics and needs of
aquatic living things as well as the role of air and water in the
environment. Students will participate
in cleaning up an "ocean" as they learn about the effects of pollution on water
and what they can do to conserve and preserve this natural resource. Supports science learning outcomes.
Our
dedication to teaching kids about nature, the environment and the importance of
recycling doesn't end there. By
reducing, reusing and recycling, kids will be able to create something new out
of recycled material at the Creation Station. Learning has never been this environmentally-friendly!

more information, please contact the Booking Coordinator at 924-4004 or
