(As featured for the January 24 & 25 Project du Jour craft.) Items Needed:
- 1 piece of 12" black pipe cleaner
- 1 piece of 2.5" white pipe cleaner
- 2 pieces of 4" black pipe cleaners
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Orange construction paper
- Craft glue
- Googly eyes
Instructions:
- Make a body by coiling a 12" black pipe cleaner around a pencil. Hook a 2.5" piece of white pipe cleaner between the top third and fourth coils and around the bottom coil.
- For each wing, fold a 4" piece of black pipe cleaner in half and bend the ends. Attach it by tucking the bent ends between the top third and fourth coils.

Join Our Volunteer Team
Volunteers are a valued asset at the Manitoba Children's Museum seven days a week!
MCM Volunteers support preschool and school programs during the week, host face painting, crafts and more in the foyer on Saturday and Sunday, and offer help at MCM special events.
We offer our volunteers:
- training, coaching and recognition
- experience in career-related areas
- letters of reference
- opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children
- flexible schedules
The minimum age for MCM volunteers is 13 years old, and we have no maximum age!
Volunteers begin the application process by attending an information session. (Note: If you are under 18 years old, your guardian must attend as well.)
The next scheduled information sessions are planned for: Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 1:00PM and Saturday, February 21 at 1:00PM
Are you interested in being a volunteer counselor at MCM Spring Break Day Camp? If you are, please contact the Volunteer Resources Manager so that we can arrange for you to attend an orientation. The volunteer counselor role provides an excellent opportunity for volunteers to develop communication, leadership, and other employment-related skills in a safe and encouraging environment. Day camp volunteers should be 15 years of age or older, and each volunteer counselor needs to attend an orientation. The volunteer counselor role is a terrific opportunity to gain skills - and it is FUN! The volunteer counsellor orientation for Spring Break Day Camp will be on Saturday, March 7 at 10:00AM.
For more information or if you plan to attend one of the upcoming information sessions, please contact: Lynn Silver, Volunteer Resources Manager, by phone at 924-4002 or by e-mail at lsilver@childrensmuseum.com.
