Moab Photographers Charlie and Susie Brown to be Featured Art Walk Artists at Arches Book Company
Saturday, December 11 from 6-9 PM at Arches Book Company, 89 N. Main St.
 "Once upon a time there was this guy that went from the hectic corporate life to a life of leisure. His initial goal in retirement was to reacquaint himself with the natural world around him (i.e., to stop and smell the flowers) and to spend some fun times with his best buddy (and wife) Susie. Together they decided to wander this great world and visit places that they had only dreamed of." -C. Brown
Charlie and Susie Brown became serious photographers in their new life after retirement. Their primary emphasis has been large landscape/wildlife panoramas (several of which are exhibited at Zax). However, they both have recently expanded into new areas of photography. Charlie is documenting Moab and other nearby towns (Cisco, Thompson Springs, etc.) using HDR (high dynamic range) photography with lots of color, a bit of grunge, and a touch of silliness. Susie has developed a new technique called Motional Abstract Photography (MAP), resulting in beautifully painted images. This is their first real show exhibiting their new work. Their base of operation for all this fun is Moab, UT, where they live with their two wonderful Bernese Mountain dogs.

Sixth Annual Books for
Tots Fundraiser for School Libraries in Full Swing!!
In our sixth year of our Books for Tots program, we have reached out to all of  the schools in Grand County, including Moab Charter School and Sundwall Preschool, to provide books requested by the librarians to enhance each library collection. We have also partnered with Title 1 to provide 100 books to their mentoring program, which pairs younger and older children together to increase literacy.You can donate books to the schools by purchasing them at a 15% discount at either Arches or Back of Beyond. Choose an ornament off the tree or a title from the bookcase. Our goal is to  donate 400 books this year. We hope you will help us in the spirit of giving to provide our students with the books they need.Books for Tots will continue until Christmas Day. Books will be delivered to the schools Dec. 27.
