Regional Award-Winning Author at Back of Beyond

Who: Marcia Hensley, Author of Staking Her Claim: Women Homesteading the West
What: Book Reading and Signing
When:Tuesday, April 27, 7-8 PM
Where:Back of Beyond Books, 83 N. Main St.

"Like the stories of the pioneers who have fascinated me since childhood, my life story has been a westward journey. My husband and I live close to the Oregon Trail in Wyoming on ground homesteaded by the first settlers in this valley and in the home they built 100 years ago. Surrounded by r
eminders of the Oregon Trail and memories of pioneers, by the Wind River Mountains and the high plains deserts they knew, I have found my voice as a writer and my heart's home."

Staking Her Claim: Women Homesteading the West tells the stories of remarkable pioneer women who seized the opportunity to own land at a time when it was nearly unheard of for women to do so.

If you are unable to make the reading and would like a signed copy, please call us at 435-259-5154 to reserve a copy. We will ship it to you or hold it until you are able to make it into the store.

Hope to see you there!

Raising Money for "Books for Tots" by Recycling

Kerry Lange, owner of Desert West Office Supplies, has been accepting old printer cartridges from the public for awhile now. He sends them off to a company that sorts them and pays him for the ones they recycle.

Desert West matches whatever amount they receive and donates the money to a charitable cause in our community. Beginning this past winter, Desert West began donating the money to Arches for our "Books for Tots" program.

The money he donates goes to buying books for our school's libraries. To date, he has helped raise over $1000 for the program. He hopes that some of the money may also be used for textbooks.

If you would like to help with this project, please take your old printer cartridges to Desert West. You will also receive $1 off a new cartridge when you drop off the used one. They will take inkjet, laser toner, and laser drum cartridges.

For more information please call Arches Book Company at 435-259-0782 or Desert West at 435-259-5735.
