Greetings!
Women In Leadership...Building Momentum for Social Change

The Third Annual Leadership Forum for Women Executive Directors is one week away!  If you haven't registered already now is the time to do so.  Women leaders from throughout Missouri will convene at the Cedar Creek Conference Center in New Haven, Missouri to connect, network and learn on June 5 & 6, 2008.

This year's theme, Women in Leadership... Building Momentum for Social Change, will offer participants an opportunity to reaffirm, reinforce and recognize their voice and power as we become greater advocates for social change.

Linda Stout, director of Spirit in Action, will open the 2008 Leadership Forum with her keynote address, "Making a Different Future: Changing the World Through Community."  She will help us experience and learn about developing a collective vision that propels us into the future and inspires and energizes us toward creative action.   [Read more about Linda Stout]

Stout will also lead us through a workshop, "Time for Our Power: Making Our Voices Heard" where we will learn to create an atmosphere of openness, allowing respectful dialogue about controversial issues and supporting each other even if we disagree. She will also help us understand how differences strengthen us and help us create a movement for change.

The Forum also features a Funders Panel discussing "Beyond Charity: How Foundations Can Influence Change."  Join us to hear from and ask questions of:
  • Dr. James Kimmey, Missouri Foundation for Health
  • Wendy Jaffe, Trio Foundation
  • Ann Haubrich, ASC Foundation
  • Bridget McDermott Flood, Incarnate Word Foundation
The Forum's final workshop is on "Communications Fundamentals: Creating Messages that Connect and Compel" presented by Laurna Godwin of Vector Communications.

Cost is $150/person for both room reservation and forum.  Includes all meals and fees. [Register]

Limited number of scholarships are still available for health and health-related organizations on a first come/first served basis by calling Kristy Guttmann, 314.436.9580 or kristy@nonprofitservices.org.

Building Leaderful Organizations
Released as part of an Annie E. Casey Foundation series on executive transitions, Building Leaderful Organizations: Succession Planning for Nonprofits (download PDF) provides tools for emergency succession planning, guidance for executive directors about when and how to leave an organization, and a list of recommendations for boards working to maintain an organization's stability through a period of transition.

According to the report, an organization that pays close attention to talent-focused succession planning is likely to be more nimble, flexible, and capable of building the skills and capacity needed to meet challenges that may arise.  [Download the Report]

Nonprofits Raised More Money Online in 2007
Study Shows Nonprofits Raised 19% More Money Online in 2007
A new study released this week measuring internet fundraising and activism of nonprofits highlights the continued importance of the Internet to mission-focused groups. The 2008 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study, co-authored by M+R Strategic Services and Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN), updates industry benchmarks from a 2006 study, which was a first of its kind to look at the overall effectiveness of nonprofits using the Internet. The 2008 study adds new depth to earlier findings with additional data on the importance of major donors and 'super activists.'  [Download report: free registration required]
