Come celebrate Spring and Mother's Day in Bavaria! Located 118 miles east of Seattle, Leavenworth welcomes Mothers with its Maifest celebration May 7-9, 2010. The snow has melted and the hills are alive with wildflowers. Local flower baskets begin their journey for a year of sensational color.

Kick up your heels and dance to lively Bavarian music in the gazebo beginning Friday at 1:00pm and continuing through Sunday.
Saturday morning the Lions Club will tempt you with an all you can eat Maifest breakfast in the park. Music begins at 10:00am in the gazebo. The grand parade starts at noon featuring a Grand March, Bavarian dancers, alphorn players, mountain goats, Bernese Mountain Dogs with flowered wreaths around their neck pulling hand-decorated carts, and visiting dignitaries. The parade proceeds past the gazebo on Front Street Park where Musikkapelle Leavenworth, the town's Bavarian band, fills the air with Oompa music. It is followed by the Maipole dance, and a "Looking Good in Lederhosen" contest for several categories: youngest, oldest, most colorful, best looking man, best looking woman, largest lederhosen, most colorful and even the best looking dog in lederhosen. Come cheer on the contestants or join in.
Take a short walk to the Cascade Garden Club Plant sale. Our Master gardeners have hand picked their best spring starts from their gardens and are anxious to share their planting knowledge with you. The Senior Center welcomes you to an all you can eat spaghetti feed. You will also be tempted by the tantalizing aromas coming from the 30+ restaurants in and around town. After dinner you will want to kick up your heels again with an evening street dance.
Beginning at 11:30am on Mother's Day we have a special tribute and welcome for all Mothers. This includes flowers, drawings, prizes and special discounts just for Mom. New event this year: Mother Daughter Look Alike Contest. The Alpen Folk kicks off the day with music and folklore reminiscent of the Alps. Their music combines the button accordion, hammered dulcimer, zither, bass and guitar with their singing and yodeling special Mother's Day tribute and welcome. The entertainment continues with the famous Maipole Dance
