Building Peace One Woman At A Time Zainab Salbi found herself needing to escape from Saddam's tyranny. She is founder and president of Women for Women International and has dedicated her life to providing women survivors of war, civil strife, and other conflicts with the tools and resources needed to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self sufficiency. A book signing will follow the lecture.

Free ski equipment, lessons and trail passes will be provided. Take mini ski lessons in classic or skating techniques. Enjoy refreshments and try out new gear at Leavenworth Winter Sports Club's Icicle River Trail.

Snowshoe Demo January 17
Leavenworth Winter Sports Club teams up with the Chamber by adding a snowshow demo to our Bavarian Ice Fest weekend from 10 am to 2 pm at the Ski Hill. If you're looking for a winter activity that doesn't require a big investment then come on out and discover the fast growing winter sport of snowshoeing. If you can walk, you can snowshoe. A bonfire will provide a warm welcome at the base of Bakke Hill landing.

Chili Cookoff & Fun In The Snow With Radio Personalities
January 23
Leavenworth Winter Sports Club is proud to host KOHO Day at the Leavenworth Ski Hill just 1 mile from downtown on Ski Hill Drive. Enjoy skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. And how about a Chili Cook-Off on the snow! Local chefs will compete for the best chili! KOHO radio personalities from 101.1 FM will supervise the competition. From 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. stop by the Leavenworth Ski Hill to try the chili (first come, first serve) and take advantage of discounted snow tubing rates.

Nissebakken Telemark Race January 29
If you can drop a knee, you can participate in this giant slalom race of two runs.
Awards and potluck BBQ to follow at the lodge. Many local businesses provide great raffle prizes...enough for everyone! A Special Prize will be awarded for the Best Tropical Skier Registration 5:00-5:30 p.m.

Icicle Creek 5th Annual Piano Festival Concerts Jan. 12-16 |

Directed by Icicle Creek Music Center's resident pianist, Oksana Ezhokina
The Piano Festival annually welcomes advanced pre-professional pianists for an intensive week of private lessons, masterclasses, and recitals. 2010 faculty are Jane Coop, Christina Dahl and Xak Bjerken. The
Piano Festival ends with a Festival Faculty Concert Friday January 15, 7:00 pm in Sleeping Lady Chapel Theater and a Young Artist Concert Saturday January 16, 7:00 pm in Canyon Wren Recital Hall.
All masterclasses are open to the public and will take place in Canyon Wren Recital Hall. Tickets are $5.00.

Ice Fest January 16-17 |

Come Play In The Snow and Meet Jeff Renner from King 5 The year's first festival activity with the brisk freshness of winter. Shake out the snow and ice, if only momentarily, to smoosh, sweep, and join others in our snow sculpture competition, ice cube scramble and much more. Uncle Ulis restaurant is undefeated in the tug of war competition, come give them some competiton. Jeff Renner, weatherman from King 5 will be our MC. Dog sleds rides will be available at Blackbird Island. Top off all of this fun with an incredible fireworks display on Sunday at 6pm.
Enjoy our own Ski Hill for demo's, tubing and a host of other activities.
