White River Falls
Photographing water is one of the common challenges for the photographer. Who among us has not tried to do this countless times, with a camera, at the beach, or the lakeshore, or at a pristine waterfall in the wilderness? Here in our own backyard at the White River Falls, near Lake Wenatchee, we have a small, spectacular waterfall, that you can drive your car to, have a picnic lunch, or even camp overnight. Here are a few hints to make your efforts worthwhile: Choose an overcast day, or at least a time of day when the sun is not glaring into the water harshly. The contrast with direct sun is really a challenge, especially when there is also detail you want to see in the surrounding rocks, or foliage. Use a moderate high ISO setting to catch the detail in the water splashes. Take care to prevent mist and water splashes on your lens and camera. Simple camera enclosure bags are available to protect your equipment. | |
