LUNCHEON/RSVP POLICY - Our Luncheon/RSVP Policy is that attendees pre-register for all chamber luncheons, regular monthly luncheons as well as Women In Business luncheons. When you pre-register, we are better able to plan with the restaurants we are dealing with for the right amount of meals. Pre-registration (RSVP) must be done 3 business days prior (Friday noon for a Wednesday luncheon) and walk-ins will not be able to be accommodated. Some luncheons require earlier response. Member Fee for a regular luncheon is $25 and non-members are $30 pre-paid. Cancellation and no-shows will be charged $25. Payment will be expected in advance or at the door; no invoicing available. Some luncheons with other groups or special events may have different fees. We do appreciate your consideration and cooperation on this policy. Please call Luanne Triolo if you have any further questions on this matter (630) 665-3325. |

The Carol Stream Park District will hold this event at Coyote Crossing, Route 64/North Avenue and St. Charles Road, West Chicago. MAY LUNCHEON - "STATE OF THE VILLAGE" |
Annually, Mayor Frank Saverino speaks at our chamber luncheon, updating us all on the "State of the Village". This May 12th, he will once again, 'fill us in' at the luncheon, held at the Holiday Inn & Suites from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Make your reservations today, or anytime up to May 7th, to have a seat at this event. Of course we will have the first 1/2 hour of networking and some at each table, too.
Be sure to bring a good stack of business cards, as we will be encouraging you to pass them around the table after you are seated. Our Ambassadors will facilitate conversation, so that people get to know each other better.

CHAMBER SCHOLARSHIPS |
Each year, local organizations, including the Carol Stream Chamber, offer scholarships to students pursuing education at local, state or colleges across the nation.
This year, the Scholarship Committee interviewed 25 students who are residents of Carol Stream. Five recipients were chosen and their names will be announced after they are 'surprised' at their awards banquets.
We thank the Scholarship Committee for their dedication to this endeavor. The interviews and deliberation were over two nights for five hours each, in addition to the normal work day. Thank you to: Amit Mehta/Fast On Site Computer Repair, Marina Collazo/ACN, and John Fioti/Law Office of John Fioti, the committee chair. |
WOMEN IN BUSINESS NEWS | The Women In Business (WIB) committee has planned a year of networking and informational events for you. Yes, I said YOU! Here are some WIB FAQ's:
Q: I am a member of the Carol Stream Chamber. Do I have to JOIN an additional group to attend Women In Business events?
A: No, your chamber membership qualifies you to attend our luncheon events at member prices.
Q: I would like to bring a business associate to hear one of the upcoming speakers. She has visited before; may she visit again?
A: Yes. WIB events, unlike regular chamber luncheons or After Hours, etc. allow non-members to visit more than once.
Q: I am not a woman. May I attend? Why would men want to?
A: Yes, you may attend. The WIB events are open to all. Some topics are pertinent to women, but let's face it, all men have some woman in their life (sister, wife, daughter, mother, female employee) and they may glean important information from these presentations. Besides, studies show that women are decision makers in many cases
Here are some very interesting statistics pertaining to women (according to insidercarsecrets.com):
> Women make up 51% of the population. > Almost half the adult female population is unmarried. > About 57% of single women are homeowners. > 64 million adult women work outside the home, and 19% of them earn more than $30,000 a year. About 6.5% of them earn more than $50,000. > Women own 38% of the businesses in the U.S. and employ 27.5 million people. > 43% of individuals with assets over $500,000 are women.
> In almost 80% of the cases where married couples buy a new or used vehicle that it is the woman who calls the shots and makes the final decision
> And women outlive men by 5.4 years!
Are women part of your target marketing? Maybe they should be! Here are the WIB events and dates for 2010 - RSVP as soon as you can:
