"What Women Want" Expo September 23

When we talk about what women want, usually chocolate, shopping and pampering enter the conversation. The 3rd Annual "What Women Want" Expo will be held at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream on Wed., Sept 23 from 10am to 3pm. We will fill our aisles with amazing booths and exhibitors. You can be an exhibitor or sponsor -- just support the theme of this very 'pink' event. For more info, click here.

Hi, Chamber members!!

In between our quarterly mailed newsletters, we like to keep our members updated on the monthly events.

Fire up the palm pilots, open Outlook or take out your planner and mark down these dates. These events are great opportunities to network, build relationships, thus building your business. Join us! If you know someone who could benefit from our organization, please feel free to forward this to them.

August Luncheon is PITCH Time
..........................................................
We want you to get your company information out to business professionals in and outside the chamber. There are many ways to accomplish this but one of our favorite is the August 12th luncheon, better known as "Pitch Your Busienss". Note the expanded times -- 11:15am -1:15pm. Plan ahead and RSVP today.

Not familiar with this concept? Click here for details and photos of past 'Pitch" luncheons.
Before AND After Hours in August
They use the term, 'during business hours' but we believe business can be accomplished both BEFORE and AFTER normal business hours.

There will be two opportunities to do so in August, as chamber members will gather with fellow members and network.

Tuesday, August 18 will be a "Business Before Hours" at Office Depot, on the southeast corner of Geneva and Schmale/Main Street in Wheaton. Starting at 7:30am and going until 9:30am, members will have time to get to know each other.

On Wednesday, August 26th, from 5:30-7:30pm will be a Multi-Chamber After Hours at COSTCO, 505 W. Army Trail, Bloomingdale. Members of the Addison, Bloomingdale, Bartlett and Roselle Chambers will be joining us.

Maximize your membership in the Carol Stream Chamber -- both of these events are FREE but don't forget to bring lots of business cards. I know, I say that all the time, but I was at an event last week and a woman at our table  had nothing to pass out to others. So don't be left with nothing -- Stock up! And let us know if you'll be joining us at these events.
Oktoberfest  in Carol Stream September 26th

The Village and Rotary Club will host the 7th annual Oktoberfest on Sat., September 26th at the Town Center beginning from 3 - 9 pm.  This annual event celebrates the founders of our community who arrived from Germany in the mid-19th century to settle the territories formerly known as Gretna and Cloverdale. Join together as a community to celebrate our heritage by considering an Oktoberfest sponsorship to support this year's event during our Golden Jubilee year. Either financial support of the entertainment or in-kind support is most welcome.  For more information on Oktoberfest sponsorship opportunities, contact Christopher Oakley, Asst. to the Village Manager at [email protected]

Video Session In August to Tape ...YOU!

The camera begins rolling and your 'script' begins to scroll on the teleprompter. You take a deep breath and the rest is history. You have just completed taping your commercial and it couldn't have been easer.

Enhanced Inspection Service for Businesses

Fire Inspectors from the Carol Stream Fire Protection District will be assisting the business community in taking advantage of the Smart Ideas for Business financial incentives offered by Commonwealth Edison to assist Chamber businesses in lowering their electricity costs.
Fire Inspector Rasmussen and his fellow colleague Inspector Tim Ryan will drop off as part of their annual fire inspection regimen some CFL bulbs and a packet of information on Com-Ed's Smart Ideas for Business energy efficiency financial assistance program.

Businesses are encouraged to review the program literature and consider applying for one or two of the available energy saving programs to lower their operational costs. However, don't wait for your annual fire inspection to take advantage of these energy efficiency programs.

The Smart Ideas for Business program application can be accessed on-line at www.comed.com/businesssavings  or for those who want to talk to a live representative phone the program hotline at (888) 806-2273.
Sincerely,
