Greetings!!

In between our quarterly mailed newsletters, we like to keep our members updated on the monthly events.

Fire up the palm pilots, open Outlook or take out your planner and mark down these dates. These events are great opportunities to network, build relationships, thus building your business. Join us!

  • CHAMBER LUNCHEON - Aug. 8th
  • We know that it is important to you, our chamber member, that you get your business information out to as many people as possible with as much detail as possible. As you meet other members one-on-one at events, you have the opportunity to do this. But there must be a more efficient way! There must be a way that is more fun!

The next chamber luncheon on August 8th "Pitch Your Business" gives you that chance....come on out and take advantage of it! Surrounded by a baseball theme, this luncheon will give each chamber member who wishes, a chance to 'pitch' their business for 45 seconds to all in attendance. This is not one-on-one, but more efficient and memorable.

RSVP early -- by 5pm Monday Aug 6th -- so we can put you in the lineup. Also, if you would like to attend and not pitch, let us know that, too. Non-members in attendance will not be able to pitch. All who plan to attend should bring 90 business cards.

For more details on the event...
  • BUSINESS AFTER HOURS - Aug 16th

  • AFTER HOURS/VOLUNTEER EVENT - Aug 21
  • The usual chamber After Hours event doesn't involve rolling up your sleeves and digging in, being a part of a project and volunteering.

On August 21st, there will be a Chamber After Hours that isn't usual. It's unusually wonderful. Chamber members who are interested in donating two hours of their time can assist in the Kids Against Hunger program, which will be held from 5:00-7:00pm at Harris/Roselle, 402 E. Irving Park Road in Roselle.

Kids Against Hunger is a volunteer-driven effort to package and distribute food in communities worldwide where hunger and starvation is rampant. Each week, as volunteers package hundreds of much-needed food servings, they also get a chance to talk, share, laugh and reconnect with one another through the program. More importantly, through their packaging efforts, volunteers learn and reaffirm the importance of looking beyond themselves and towards serving the needs of others.

If you would like to be a part of this event, contact the chamber office to RSVP as we gather together to make a difference.

"When you feed a child, you feed our future."

  • GOLF OUTING A SUCCESS
  • The weather was perfect; the course was manicured; the golfers were plentiful. The 2007 "Golf Classic" was a success!

The chamber golf outing set at Klein Creek in Winfield boasted 152 agile golfers, 42 generous sponsors, 10 delightful drink sponsors, and 27 willing volunteers.

We thank all those who were a part of this success!

  • ADVERTISING IN THE NEWSLETTER
  • If you are a business who wants to get the word out without licking a stamp, we have the deal for you!

Each quarter the Carol Stream Chamber offers flyers in the quarterly newsletter as a way to advertise to fellow chamber members.

Do you have a special, a grand opening or a new product to tell us about? Get us 400 flyers and a check for $120 by Monday, August 27th and they will be included in the September newsletter to be mailed out to all chamber members the first week of September.

No paper cuts, no ink on your hands, no bad taste from licking envelopes. We do it all for you!

Notify us today if you plan to get us a flyer by August 27th. Thank you!

  • "WHAT WOMEN WANT" EXPO - WIB
  • SAVE THE DATE!!

The Carol Stream Chamber Women In Business group would like to announce an exciting event. On September 28th from 10am to 3pm they will hold the "What Women Want" Expo at the Holiday Inn/Carol Stream. Chamber members may apply to be in this juried expo.

What do you have to offer that women want? Perhaps you have chocolate to sell or shoes? Are you a business that offers services such as hair, nails, massages that women crave? Perhaps you have a service company, such as an auto shop and you are wondering if you could participate. If you have someone or something at your table to pamper women, such as giving out flowers or special pins, or a hand massage, etc. that could qualify you.

This is the first "What Women Want' Expo and the WIB committee is very excited to offer this event, which will also raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness and the American Cancer Society.

All forms should be submitted by Aug 17th for the Early Bird Pricing.

We thank our sponsors so far:
    Arbonne International
    Inches-A-Weigh
    NuSkin Enterprises
    Stratford Square Mall

The first 300 attendees will receive a special WIB tote filled with goodies and information. Admission is $5. There is a coupon for $1 off on our website. This Expo is open to business professionals as well as the public! View the application, mark your calendar, tell your women -- pass the word and help us make this a successful event!
