Greetings to our Friends and Sponsors!

On April 12,  a small, short term,  outreach team will be heading to Uganda. Our primary goal is to work with and strengthen our relationship with, the students, their guardians, and the staff of the Rock of Ages School. We also look forward to building relationships with those we have yet to meet, and blessing those God puts in our path. In addition, we will also be visiting some hospitals and clinics.

After the many prayers and hours of planning that has gone into this trip, we have been continually astonished and blessed by the response from friends, family, and strangers who have stepped in to help.

An unlikely source for some of the contributions made, were from some ladies at the Pocatello Women's Correction Center. Here is what an inmate had to say about their loving donations. It is an inspiration to us, and we hope it is to you as well.

"It's always interesting to see how God chooses to work. In this case He's chosen to partner the community with some incarcerated women at PWCC to create outreach materials that will further the Kingdom of God and build His Body on another continent! Amazing. Humbling. Exciting! As an "outside" team readies to travel to Uganda in April, an "inside" team has been crafting blankets and stuffed animals to show the love of God to the lost and hurting there. Hundreds of hours have been spent in this labor of love. To hear just one name was written in the Lamb's Book of Life because of our effort would make it all worth it, but we're asking you to pray for many people to receive the gift of salvation through God's grace as time is short and our Bridegroom is coming. May He find us watching and waiting, complete and united for His honor, glory and praise - In Jesus Name I pray. Amen."

                            -  Lisa Marie

Other contributions include:
  • A blessing bag for each child attending the school, thoughtfully  and lovingly filled by sponsors and friends
  • A donation of indestructible soccer balls
  • Blessing bags for the teachers and staff at Rock of Ages school assembled by teachers at Grace Lutheran School
  • First Aid and other medical supplies donated by local pharmacies, Shaver's and Maag's.
  • 76 children's  dresses sewn by  woman from our local LWML. (Lutheran Woman's Missionary League)

We cannot thank all of you enough for your love and support. And we will make every effort to ensure that these gifts reach the people who are most in need. Thank you.

Meet Christine Namilimu!

Christine started school at Rock of Ages this past January in the pre-school middle class. She will be six years old in July. She lives with her mother. She has a father but she rarely sees him. He visits once every 2 to 4 years and her mother says she does not know where he is or what he does for employment when he is away.

Your $20/month sponsorship guarantees a spot in the school for Christine and enables her to continue receiving an education by qualified teachers, a meal  each school day, and a school uniform. Please consider upgrading to a premium sponsorship of $40/month and a monthly food pack of rice and eggs will be provided to Christine'  family the first of each month during the school term.

Please prayerfully consider sponsoring Christine  or making a one-time donation in her  name. A one-time donation in any amount will help offset her tuition or if you like, you can specify your funds in Christine's name for support to her family. Learn how by visiting the Hands4Uganda website page now.

Update:  Sheeba, who we highlighted last month has been sponsored!

Welcome Joweria,  our new 3rd Grade Teacher!

Rock of Ages School is happy to welcome their newest teacher,

Joweria Mukoda
Joweria Mukoda

Joweria is 20 years old and her family is from Kamuli, a village in the eastern part of Uganda.  Joweria is the fourth of six children in her family; she learned her strong ethic from her mother who worked as a single parent to support her family.  Joweria understands the hardships the children of Rock of Ages face from difficult family and life circumstances.  When she was younger, Joweria was going to stop attending school in primary 7 due to financial difficulties.  Her oldest brother, however, would not let her.  Her brother completed his studies and became a secondary teacher.  With the money he made from his job, he payed for Joweria to complete her studies through secondary school and college.  Joweria is unmarried and is, therefore, able to dedicate a larger portion of her time toward teaching the students at Rock of Ages.  According to Joweria, she accepted the position at Rock of Ages because felt loved.  Welcome, Joweria!

How Can You Help?

Hands4Uganda's success is dependent on people like you.  No matter your skills, financial well being, or theological knowledge, God can use you to move mountains and change lives forever.  2012 brings opportunities for individuals of all ages to

"love differently..." by participating in  fund raising efforts, local promotional events at your church, traveling to Africa on a mission trip, praying for the ministry, sponsoring a child or helping promote child sponsorship.  How can you help make a difference  in our world?

Child Sponsorship Update

We have over 150 students enrolled at Rock of Ages and approximately 50% of those students are still awaiting sponsorship.  The need is so great and we are at a point that we are having to turn kids away as we stretch dollars to meet the needs. The ultimate goal of H4U is to build a new school for ROA. However, this goal will not be attainable until all the children are sponsored.  Please consider sponsoring one of these beautiful children today! Visit the Hands4Uganda Sponsor a Child webpage to find out how.
