Greetings!
Now that the Polk County Republican caucus is over and the delegates for Presidency 5 have been chosen, I want to congratulate all of our club members that will be participating in this event, 16 total. The weekend of September 22 thru 24 will be a busy weekend. The FFRW Convention will be Thursday and Friday, C-PAC Florida will be on Friday and Saturday and of course all of this will be going on in conjunction with Presidency 5. The Fox News National Presidential Debate will be Thursday, September 22 and the Presidential Straw Poll will be on Saturday September 24. If you didn't get chosen as a delegate, you can still attend the many functions for the FFRW convention and C-PAC Florida that weekend. Stay tuned for more information.
We find ourselves without a Treasurer, again. Although we thought we'd solved the problem last month, the board's choice realized she had a full plate with her other duties and chose to step back. We are looking for someone that would like to serve on the board as Treasurer until the end of this year when we have our elections. The Treasurer must be able to learn a simple computer program, and attend the board meetings and luncheons. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me. This is not a difficult or time consuming job, simply one that requires an organized person to complete the tasks. Thank you to Pam Bell, Pam has agreed to be our Asst. Treasurer, I know she will be a wonderful addition to the board.
Your Board of Directors has been working hard this year. We've had extra planning sessions as we once again tackle the By-Laws and Standing Rules review. We thank Jean Burt and Jane Blankenship for assisting in this. In addition to this, we have been reviewing our fund raising functions and working on creating a membership drive and membership orientation program. If anyone would like to serve on any of these committees, we would gladly welcome your ideas and thoughts. Please let anyone on the board know that you would like to participate.
Thank you to Maria Mahoney for becoming our Legislative Chairperson. Maria will be supplying us with information regarding Legislation that we should be tracking and advising us on bills that might need our input. She gave her first report at the board meeting and is very knowledgeable and very meticulous in her duties.
A reminder, please bring your donations for Southwest Elementary School to the meeting this month. We would like to get everything together so we can present it to the Principal at the August meeting.
The PayPal button is active on our website so you can make your lunch reservation and pay for it all at the same time. I've also posted it on Facebook in the luncheon announcement. We are charging a $1.00 service fee for this convenience to help offset the cost.
I look forward to seeing you all at this months luncheon. Senator George LeMieux is a wonderful speaker that can tell us all about what's going on in Washington, D.C. Senator LeMieux is running for the U.S. Senate seat against Senator Bill Nelson. He is the first in a series of candidates for this seat that we will be offering this summer.

Senator George LeMieux is our Speaker this Month!
While serving as Florida's 34th United States Senator, George was an active member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Commerce Committee, and the Special Committee on Aging. Senator LeMieux saw several of his legislative priorities signed into law including Medicare anti-fraud legislation and an export promotion act.
At the conclusion of his Senate term in 2011, George returned to the Gunster law firm where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board. He lives in Broward County with his wife Meike and their four children Max, Taylor, Chase and baby girl Madeleine.
Make your reservations today to hear the Senator speak about his campaign!

PayPal is now available for making your reservations on our website! If you prefer to pay for lunch by credit card, this is the way to go.
Please be aware that all PayPal transactions will include a $1 handling fee. |
